Well I was still a dub when this came in Canada. My ex would pick up the mags because he had the $$$ I think in all my years as a married woman in the borg I never put $$ in the box. He took care of that and I never asked. Gads I sound like the submissive one don't I Well..... I was! LOL

in answer to your queary...
1. Think it was a privilege to pay twice?
naaa. hell you were lucky if i paid at all
2. Carry a little purse in field service for the donations?
what? me carry a pockybook? only on weekenz with my stelleto high heel and a real short skirt to show off my hairy thighs
3. Put money in the box at the literature counter when you collected your supplies?
no. never
4. Keep a record of all donations made to you 'at the doors'?
no. honestly if i got money, i would drop it in the box and that was that.
5. Decide to just pay up and not bother "inviting" donations?
after a short time, thats what i did, IF i felt any guilt.
6. Believe what the Society told you, that it was a "loving arrangement"?
i was chosen to actually read the letter at the meeting, but never did because i wasn't properly "briefed" ahead of time. this was at a critical time of my tenure as a m.s. and it smelled fishy to me.
7. Didn't place any literature?
rarely. it didnt matter to me. i was more interested in just talking to people, rather that publishing books.
8. Think that it was another tax dodge by the WTS?
what? the wt doesnt pay taxes? well slap me silly and spank me twice. and here i thought they did because they make so much money on the sales of books. dang, i got to get with the program.

6. Believe what the Society told you, that it was a "loving arrangement"
That's me. I thought it was a great idea! I always felt uncomfortable being thought of as a bible seller. We were there to have conversations and get people thinking, we weren't salesmen just out to flog literature, and so I was relieved about it.
In the UK we were told that we should never specifically ask for a donation, however we shouldn't refer to the literature as being "free", we should only use the phrase "without charge".

I was "out" already when I heard about this one. My first comment to my Mom when she was talking about it was , "So the IRS giving them problems or something?"
She looked a little sheepish and said that she wondered about that, too.
Had I been "in" I probably would have seen through it but been relieved. I hated asking for money at the doors.

Definitely No. 5. It was easier just to hand them the magazines and go about my merry way. I placed much more literature this way, too!
