Does anyone still have thier old "AID BOOK"-

I need a small quote: it is either under divorce or homosexuality-

it is pre-1988 revision of the grounds for divorce

the wt in the aid book had provided direct instructions that if a woman husband was a involved in homosexuality or beastility it was NOT GROUNDS FOR DIVORCE.

of course they made the flip flop in the nov 15 88 wt - main study article IS YOUR HOME A PLACE OF REST somehting like

anyway could anyone who many have held on to thier AID book provide the quote it is only about 2 or line lines long if i recall

    thanks

I have a JW i will be seeing in the AM along with 2nonjw, he has no idea what the writers in bethel have said in thier attempt to make rules up that destroy folks lives

    thanks

    james

    JT:

I'm not sure about what the AID book says, we got rid of ours ages ago. But Quotes has the following reference from the Questions from Readers of w72 1/1 p 31:

Do homosexual acts on the part of a married person constitute a Scriptural ground for divorce, freeing the innocent mate to remarry?-U.S.A.

Homosexuality is definitely condemned in the Bible as something that will prevent individuals from gaining God's approval. (1 Cor. 6:9, 10) However, whether an innocent mate would Scripturally be able to remarry after procuring a legal divorce from a mate guilty of homosexual acts must be determined on the basis of what the Bible says respecting divorce and remarriage...

...While both homosexuality and bestiality are disgusting perversions, in the case of neither one is the marriage tie broken. It is broken only by acts that make an individual "one flesh" with a person of the opposite sex other than his or her legal marriage mate.

    Hope this helps.

    *** w83 3/15 30-1 Honor Godly Marriage! ***

The 1979 edition of the highly regarded Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature (by Bauer, Arndt and Gingrich) defines porneia as "prostitution, unchastity, fornication, of every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse."

This is an amplification and adjustment in understanding of what appears in The Watchtower of November 15, 1974, pages 703-704, and of February 15, 1978, pages 30-32. Those who acted on the basis of the knowledge they had at the time are not to be criticized. Nor would this affect the standing of a person who in the past believed that a mates perverted sexual conduct within marriage amounted to porneia and, hence, obtained a divorce and is now remarried.

THE ABOVE TOOK THE FORM OF A FOOTNOTE, YES A FOOTNOTE

with just the swipe of a pen folks lives have been destroyed and marriages ruin and yet a THEY BLAME THE JW FOR THE DECISION

AS you read the above notice this blame the jw trick: "Those who acted on the basis of the knowledge they had at the time"

yes they make it seem like the jw came up with this knowledge on the matter instead of just admiting

we told you it was OK to divorce your wife or husband , yes we told you that you had a scriptual basis

and NOW we are telling you that you don't

nope they never admitted that they gave the wrong unscriptual direction on this serious matter SOMEONES MARRIAGE

they added to the word of god-

    It is found at the bottom and top of page 460 in the Aid To Bible Understanding, under Divorce and says;

"Sexually immoral acts committed by a married person with someone of the same sex (homosexuality) are filthy and disgusting. Unrepentant persons of this type will not inmherit God's Kingdom. And, of course, bestiality is scripturally condemned. (Lev. 18:22, 23; Rom. 1:24 - 27; 1 Cor. 6:9, 10) However, though these acts are grossly filthy, they do not constitute adultery and are not named as Christioan grounds for divorce. An individual cannot, for instance, Scripturally marry a person of the same sex and become "one flesh" with that one in the way God ordained when uniting Adam and Eve in wedlock. -- Gen. 2:24"

Is this the one you are looking for?

    Hi JT:

The blue Aid To Bible Understanding encyclopedia, 1971 edition, is what I have. Page 460. The main subject is Divorce, but what you are looking for is under the subheading, "Only Ground for Divorce Among Christians," 3rd paragraph under that particular subheading...

3rd paragraph quoted in its entirety:

"Sexually immoral acts committed by a married person with someone of the same sex (homosexuality) are filthy and disgusting. Unrepentant persons of this type will not inherit God's kingdom. And, of course, bestiality is Scripturally condemned. (Lev. 18:22, 23; Rom. 1:24-27; 1 Cor. 6:9,10). However, though these acts are grossly filthy, they do not constitute adultery and are not named as Christian grounds for divorce. An individual cannot, for instance, Scripturally marry a person of the same sex and become 'one flesh' with that one in the way God ordained when uniting Adam and Eve in wedlock.--Gen. 2:24"

    ----------

Sounds to me like they were "trying too hard" to be so "exact" regarding the word "adultery" that they were not thinking straight: i.e., Since adultery means an immoral "connection" between man/woman, sex between woman-woman or man-man cannot possibly equal adultery since they are not "connecting" in the way that Adam/Eve did.

Even so, I don't know how they rule out bestiality as not being an adulterous ground for divorce since, technically, a man or woman 'could connect' with a beast -- (totally grosses me out, but if people didn't do it it probably wouldn't have been in Lev. to start with.). If I caught my husband with the family pet, he'd be out the door! Barf!

    GRITS

thanks everyone for your help and your comments

sometime when you look back at how they interpete things it is clear to anyone that they were not being spirit directed

why in gods name would he have something as divorce with such serious outcomes, kids, homes, money, emotional pain, etc - to allow his mouth pc to get something so serious so wrong

    yes this is sad

Yet another example of the blatant contradictions found within Watchtower doctrine.

Ironic that this information comes from the self-professed "mouthpiece" of God.

Boy, Jehovah God sure must change his mind frequently, and have little regard for the welfare of families and friendships torn apart in the meanwhile.

Thank you JT for this fascinating thread.
