    Thanks Lisa!

I was almost convinced I found Penny Brown in a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew.

    What a relief!

    MMmmm! Good Stew!

    Whose shoes are these?

Go to www.missingkids.org - you can view photos of missing kids from your area, or volunteer as a poster partner. If you volunteer, they will e-mail you 8x10 size posters to print out and distribute - I get about 10 a week.

I did run the Java banner on the bottom of this site for a while but to be honest it upset me too much seeing the picture of the kids ... especially ones near my kids ages.

Perhaps I should put them back though ... I wonder if it really helps though? Does anyone know?

Thanks for letting me know. Now I am going to have to give my friend a very hard time for that stunt. I really don't like it when people pull my leg when it involves children. My eldest went missing for about 20 minutes when he was about 2 years old. Talking about a frantict feeling. Actually I don't know if she knew it was a hoax or not. But I will pass the info on to her, what you showed me. And again thank you. I did not know.

She probably didn't know it was a hoax as these emails get passed around the internet a lot. People's first inclination is to believe something like this, after all why on earth would anyone make a hoax about this (it is baffling.)

Most of the time people don't realize it's a hoax themselves. I've forwarded so many things in an attempt to help someone. Only to realize it was a crock to begin with. I guess I'd rather be a little gullible than ignore a person in need though.

Here are a few websites that come in really handy. I've kept them on my favorites list - I refer to them pretty regularly.

    www.snopes.com

    www.urbanlegends.com

They are pretty up to date.

I agree!! I spent a number of years working on criminal cases for the Prosecutor's Office - I HATED those cases involving kids. It hits way too close to home when you have little ones.

I get about 4-5 notices a month from the missing children's network of children that have been found. But I don't know how many are from the posters or pictures. However, if my child was missing I would want to plaster their picture anywhere I could. It's one way we can show our support for children in need.

The sad thing is that hoaxes like this detract from the *real* genuine cases.

I have only ever 'lost' one of ours for a minute or so ina shopping center (when you look one way and look back and they have darted somewhere else). It is a heart stopping moment and I can only imagine the anguish that a missing child would bring.

Is there anywhere to find whether web-campaigns like this are effective (I guess I should have a better look at the web-site eh?)
