TEEJ...
The impulse to compliance in the modern world worries me a fair bit. I was trapped for hours yesterday in a mind cage, with my impulse to help Mrs Warburton versus my impulse to comply with the exacting requirements of company proceedure.
As an example of this compliance impulse, take on the road. Since the massive media campaign about Police cameras hidden behind every bush compliance from the public has been Absolute.
I cant recall the last time I saw someone exceeding the speed limit in this country. They all fear the ever watchfull eye of Big Brother with his infrared cameras.Recently theres been another media campaign called "wipe off five", recommending that people drive 5 kmh BELOW the speed limit. Its not law, just a recommendation. And theyre all starting to follow it. Traffic moves at a crawl here now.
Big brother and his beast computer system has got everyone terrified.
tell me, do you think that impulse to comply has always been the same, and its just ME whose become a radical resistor of the collective impulse? Or are things getting more and more CONTROLLED every day?
