In my region, several elders have boasted about having destroyed the letter unread. Tragic....

It's just a thought....but that last response (Room215) is EXACTLY what I figured on happening to this letter...
Perhaps, if it were possible, the letters could be sent to the HOMES of elders. A person is always more likely to read something when they think they can read it and no one else know about it. It is all about appearances, and even if an elder received it at the KH and he WANTED to read it, he would probably do what was expected of him...and that would be to destroy it.
Just an idea...

Excellent Letter! Very impressive that this went out to elders around the world............gee, somehow, I don't think this is one letter they'll be reading out loud at the meetings...........

Perhaps, if it were possible, the letters could be sent to the HOMES of elders.
That's what we did in the UK, I don't know about elsewhere.
I'm not a Christian but I support the issue of protecting children; so as to whom I represent, well, it's just myself really.

Bona Dea, Emouse...... Your suggestion is excellent, but one ``fly in the ointment'' is WT paranoia so pervasive is these days (who could possibley argue that it hasn't gotten worse?) that the elders and their dubbie charges are warned against compiling address lists--once a common practice among JWs. So, it would take a bit more resourcefulness.... not an insurmountable problem, but an obstacle nonetheless.
