And the sad part is, they're probably the vocal minority. I wonder how many others are sitting behind their monitor bashing the USA?

    probably more than you realise

    2. You don't foist your religious beliefs upon others, because, in so doing, you appear to be taking the moral highground, and this is extremely irritating

But patriotism can be considered a religion and the whole point of this board is to voice your anti JW religeous views.

I'm not agreeing with any side but we've been through this before. unfortunately there is no law saying you have to appologize for being a dick and the world and this board will not always be hunky dory and unoffensive. You really think that all the things you say against the organisation aren't as deplorable to a devout JW as these anti-U.S. remarks were to you?

Again as a disclaimer i don't hate englishman and i'm not taking sides...i already got called a bigott for voicing an opinion against the popular.

Here, here Englishman, but don't let them get to you. State your piece, then make peace. Life is so much happier when yer not worrying about insensitive, thoughtless fools. I keep telling myself, you can't change the world's perception Vi, you can only offer your opinion.....

I luv americans if it's any consolation, my best mate is american. The government leaves alot to be desired tho (as ours does!)

Some interesting ideas from Larcs thread about "groupthink".

The Illusion of Morality is the illusion that everything that we are doing is good, right, and just. Everyone wants to believe that they are good and honest and what they are doing is right and just....

If you are part of a tight knit organization, or part of some decision making group in that organization, you develope a we-they attitude. We are right, and they are wrong....

Self Censorhsip is closely related to the illusion fo unanimity. A person feels compelled to inhibit his or her comments so as not to "ruffle feathers" or "rock the boat". Harmony is respected; arugement is not. Thus, useful ideas do not surface and get discussd .....

If someone in the group does dissent, the others are likely to put direct pressure on the dissenter through ridicule or sarcasm to stiffle the one who opposes the popular view. If the person continues to voice dissent over a long perion do time, they are likely to be expelled from the group....

You dont seriously think Logical needs to apologize do you? Mark....possibly.

    Appreciate your kind words Englishman.

Funny how this sort of anti US stuff comes up just a couple of days before our 4th of July celebration. Great timing, almost planned???

i don't think anyone needs to apologize for speaking their mind, per se.

i think lucididentity is the one who needs to apologize - for namecalling. calling people "fucking dick", "tit" and other insults in response to reasonable arguments is totally unnecessary... i had never posted to this person until today and said nothing inflammatory and he/she immediately got nasty. how very, very odd...

Yes, but most of us here have PERSONALLY suffered(myself included), some very greatly, as a result of the WTS and it's doctrines.

    Think: Silentlambs

The people here that are US bashing have not suffered, personally, as a result of decisions made by the American government, or the American people, themselves.

    Big difference.

Good points Englishman. It is of course important too to distinguish between Americans and what America does. I would not like poeple to base their opinion of me on what mssrs Blaire and co. do, that's for sure.
