JWs: No Social Conscience

Of all the delusions a JW labors under, perhaps none is more tragic than the one that deprives him/her of the truly satisfying reward of spontaneous help to a fellow human being in need. This is achieved by the promulgation of the notion that the JW ``Join Us or Die'' ministry is the single most worthwhile endeavor any human can aspire to, and supercedes any other claims on a JW's time, talents or resources.

Although WTS literature targeted for public consumption cleverly words any reference to charitable works to deliberately create the misimpression that JWs excel in this regard, the social pressure within the organization against involvement of significant effort and time in humanitarian voluteerism is palpable. .

JW's feel that any social problems are due to this world. This world will soon pass away.SO if anybody really wants true life saving help for their problems, just get a bs...that is a bible study.

That's why at one time Jehovah's Witnesses used to leave literature for tips reasoning that the "life saving" message contained in the society's publications was worth far more than money. That's a hoot!

LOL, Dutchie, that is a hoot. I used to waitress....and I have to say that would really suck!! As if an issue of Watchtower or Awake is gonna put food on my table, or keep the roof over my head, or put gas in my car so I can work. That is the stupidest reasoning that I have ever heard....and even stupider are the folks who actually believe that crap.

when i was exiting, i decided to volunteer for meals on wheels to help myself recover by truly helping others, you should have seen look of puzzlement on my parents and on other witnesses faces when i told them what i was doing.

I believe that's what some JW's still think. I've had to leave appropriate tips for a JW relative who always leave a bunch of change with a WT or Awake after a meal.
