    G'day Farks,

I'm a little concerned that you may have spent too much on that keyboard, that it may not really be "the Rolls Royce of all keyboards" ?

It may not be worth much more than 'an ordinary' keyboard. It makes the same mistakes, it seems:

nearly as good as the $80,0000 Concert Grand Steinway

    What, me worry?

    Cheers, Ozzie

    Farkel,

I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to hear your music. A few months ago, I bought a piano and began to learn to play. I am only a beginner, and never expect to achieve greatness, but it is something I have wanted to do all my life, and now that I have some time not devoted to sitting in boring meetings several hours a week, I have time to work on the piano. I spend about an hour a day practicing, and I find it so enjoyable and relaxing, and never have trouble motivating myself to do my practice. Thank you in advance for sharing with us.

    SYN,

I will have to create them in MIDI format. From there, they can be converted to WAV and MP3. MIDI is cool because it contains NO sound whatsoever, only a reference table which is converted to sound by an audio player. Therefore, MIDI is extremely compact.

I would prefer not to convert them at all, but because MIDI files only contain instructions, they can sound horrible or wonderful depending upon your audio player and sound card.

    Hey, Doug, way cool!

#13 in F Sharp Major (COMF, I played this for you on H20 when you said you were leaving)

Yes, I remember it well, and the spoken message at the end. I was about to post on here and say, "Yeah, I still have it!" but I thought I'd better check to be sure. Sadly, that file is not there... a victim, I suspect, of too many reinstallations of the OS. But guess what I do have...! gmPrelude012.rm the file that has you crashing out the chords to the accompaniment of your parrot! Still as delightful and hilarious as it was when you sent it out.

I hope you will give serious thought to putting your stuff up on MP3.com and selling CDs as an indie (independent artist). I've bought over half the CDs I purchased over the past four years from indie artists, mostly on MP3.com.

    wasa,

Unfortunately, as he matured, Van Cliburn's music lost its soul. Perhaps its was the grueling schedule he had recording for Columbia records. I don't know. I had several of his albums and while he played all the music flawlessly (as usual) the music sounded so heartless.

I prefer Arthur Rubinstein's recording of the Apassionata, although I don't play the 3rd movement that fast. One can hear mistakes in almost all of Rubenstein's stuff, but his treatment of the music is awesome. Especially Chopin. Well, Rubenstein WAS Polish after all!

For those of you who love the Premiere Grand Ballade in G Minor (as I do), you might be interested to know Chopin wrote that when he was only twenty years old. What a wealth of music he gave us before he passed on at the tender age of 39. If there are such things as musical avatars, Chopin was certainly one of them.

The Apassionata Sonata (Opus 57) by Ludwig Beethoven (very fast and very difficult)

My mom used to play this one a lot. She was never a great piano player, but she played with feeling, which counts more than anything else. I look forward to hearing your rendition.

This is an aside, but one of the things that bothered me as a dub was that I really enjoyed music, and it seemed to me that music produced by persons living in a righteous perfect paradise would be sterile and meaninglessness. The most beautiful songs are the saddest ones (just listen to some Jewish folk music, some of the saddest and most beautiful music you'll hear). Just a little amateur philosophy for ya.
