I have just been told of two people who were told yesterday at the meeting, NOT to watch Panaorama.
Any more out there?

The elders in the UK were given strict instructions not to make any further comment other than what was read to the congregation. The letter did not even mention Panorama let alone discourage people from seeing it.
Matty,
No doubt you are right. Perhaps they were told privately by the study conductor....I will try to find out.
I do know of one family who were clearly disinterested in watching it......and such an important subject!!

As a Jehovahs Witness myself I was not in anyway told by the elders at the congreagtional meeting or the group study not to watch the programme. Perhaps in future you will make sure your facts are correct before coming the web and saying what you think you know.
Rachel, this is a forum, don't be so grumpy! We are supposed to put forward things that we have heard to get them discussed and verified, Latte was perfectly in order to start this thread. No doubt witnesses all over the country have been told all sorts of things! I just mentioned that the official stance was not to discuss Panorama during the meeting, after and before is a different matter.
JW's told NOT to watch Panorama.......??
Rachel,
The title of this thread has TWO question marks. I was asking the board if anyone else had heard anything similar. My source was very reliable indeed. I am astonished that any suggestion of not watching it be made....it's just too important don't you think???
I am a proud ex-JW. Not DA/DF Just happy at last. I use my own God-given thinking ability.
Read the history of posters Rachel....I hope to get to know you better.

I think the fact that Panorama was not mentioned during the letter reading was significant because it carefully primed the audience that knew about the programme, the ones that were planning on watching it. Remember that most Witnesses are just sporadic TV watchers, so in the event that there were ones in the audience that hadn't heard about the programme, they might still remain unaware of it afterward too. Mentioning the programme at the meeting, either neutrally or negatively would still mean that they would be giving undeserved publicity to the BBC.
Hey Latte !
Could you use a bigger font please? My eyes just started to bleed :oP
cheers

....why certainly!

Rachel:
Do you have PMS or are you this snotty and arrogant all of the time? And seeing as you're such a good little Witness, perhaps you should tell your fearless leaders that perhaps THEY should get their facts straight before putting them to print.
