All of us on this Board have benefited from your wisdom and the calm approach that you take in dealing with what are often very volatile emotional issues. Above all this you are good man Larc, with a good heart, which is of much greater importance than anything, and I have personally benefited very much from seeing this side of you.

Oh shoot, Hillary, I am so happy you stayed with us. I remember the time you were almost driven off, by those who called you a troll. I emailed you and suggested you hang in there, which you did. You have been a major contributor ever since then. I am so glad you are with us. Hillary, I sure hope I get to meet you in person some day.

I think the input of people whove been OUT a long time is pretty valuable here. You were there in the fifties, a forgotten era, and can offers excellent input from that time. Myself I was there and growing up during the whole 75' thing. Nothing like firsthand expereience for commenting.
But we both been out a long time and ,for myself, I stopped reading Watchtowers in about 1985. Im getting steadily left behind. I think you start a lot of threads about general subjects thast people dont realize they were thinking about, until you post them, and they go "oh yeah!! That happened to me"..

I want to thank the other posters who contributed. Believe me, it meant a lot to me. For those I had the opportunity to greet them when they first came here, let me say, I feel it is a privelege be there at that particular time when you showed up. I am glad I could encourage you.

I have a ton of respect for uh.... seasoned people, like you, who got out before the books by Penton, Franz, et al made it a no-brainer for people like myself, and before the Internet helped ex-JWs get in touch with each other for mutual support.

I think it is because I might be able to help a few people who show up here, and enjoy some friendships that have developed over these past few years.

I often ask myself the same questions as you have. Although I am on the other side of the spectrum, in terms of time out of the Borg, I often wonder whether I am doing myself any favours sticking around, when there are so many already on this board, and I could slip away unnoticed.
However, the reasons why I stay are the same as the ones you mentioned. There is not alot of support for ex-jws here in Oz, just a few pockets here and there. Hence the frequent Apostafests we have here, so that Aussie ex-jws have a helping hand. So if I can help some Aussies who have left, then I know it's been worth all the hours I've spent on this board.
I have also made some terrific friends from this board, some who are very special to me, and whose friendship extend beyond the confines of the internet. For this I am grateful.
I am glad that you have stayed here, Larc, because I think you are a great guy, and I wish you and your graceful wife lived much closer, so that I could enjoy your company in person. However, at least we have the wonder of the internet, and at least this is a way that all of us can stay in touch.
