"Cause I want to spend more time having fun with you..." Kids that age will get that one immediately... -

When my kid was that age 3 years ago and asked the same question, my answer was "Because they are boring." Kids can definitely relate to that one.

"Because son, Daddy doesn't want to and unlike school there is no law that says Daddy has to and because Daddy doesn't agree with the things they talk about at the meeting it would make him very sad and uncomfortable to go. Daddy feels it is important to be truthful about how he feels and say so when something makes him uncomfortable" -

what my wife told our kids when we left that cong. because some of the people there were saying horrible things about dad. -

Be honest. Tell them: "I no longer believe what is taught there....I believe.....) "----fill in the blank with what you believe. Do NOT belittle anyone else who does believe just tell the child what you feel in terms the child will be able to understand. Honesty is the best policy. -

I know that the "boring" thing would work with my kids just fine. They already know is boring. They sure would be shocked if they ever learned that I've decided to stop attending meeting. But their question would come more from a perspective of "can we do the same then?" -
