A translation made from ancient fantasties is still nothing but a bunch of ancient fantasies. I will concede that the ancient fantasies are more accurate ancient fantasies than some of the other, inaccurate ancient fantasies, though.

    Badboy,

Some translations use Junia, a woman's name, rather than Junias, a man's name. One Bible dictionary says she probably was the wife of Andronicus. These individuals preceded Paul into Christianity and were prisoners with him, at Rome. Why couldn't a woman be prominent among the Apostles? Maybe, that is what the W.T. fears. Yet they can't deny that Phoebe (vs. 1) was a woman minister in the congregation at Cenchreae. Vs. 3 (Prisca is Aquila's wife--and there is a congregation in their house). Vs. 6 Greet Mary... Vs. 12 & 13: women (Tryphosa, Tryphaena, and Persis...vs. 13 (Rufus and Paul's mother)...vs. 15 (Julia, and Nereus' sister...)

Modern Bibles can be understood better than any other. It would almost be like the time Jehovah confused the languages in Babylon and they had to go in seperate lands.

This took place 200 years after the flood. The Bible does not name the builders of the infamous tower of Babel. The account states: "They now said: 'Come on! Let us build ourselves a city and also a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a celebrated name for ourselves, for fear we may be scattered over all the surface of the earth.'"-Genesis 11:4.

The rulers in Babylon wanted to make a tower high enough to go to the heavens. Nimrod wanted to be a god and people did worship him at the tower of Babel. They celebrated a name for themselves and did not give praise to Jehovah. They forgot about the creator that made it possible for them to make the tower. The idea to build it was from the insane ruler at the time. Lots of people were slaves and that's what made it possible to make it at a fast rate.

Why is the New World Translation not in public shelves? Maybe becouse it is free with donation, other than that I am not too sure. It is published and translated by an Orginization that believes in Jehovah.

But thankfully, any Bible that is from the original translators can be used.

: Maybe becouse it is free with donation

Oxymoron. It's either free, or it isn't free.

Has this been cut and pasted without the authors acknowledgement or are you part of the infamous Writing Team...lol

    lol....Ozzie,

This one is even more blatant :

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=32892&page=2&site=3

Joking apart, it is very sad how the rank and file JW's are kept so ignorant by their leaders. I was speaking a couple of years ago with a member of Writing overseas and posed a difficult theological sitution that the WTS had once again managed to get itself in to.

I quoted sections of Bagsters 'The Englishman's Greek New Testament' in support of my argument, his response ( and this is a very senior level researcher ) "Hmmmm, interesting I had never noticed that before, have you checked what the WT says about this"....lol. I am being serious. I wonder if he was Bleep....lol

Best to you Ozzie, greetings to Mrs Ozzie - HS

    Publications Available

The publication and distribution of Bibles and Bible literature by Jehovah's Witnesses is part of a worldwide Bible educational work that is supported by voluntary donations. The publications in this list are printed in most major languages.

NEW WORLD TRANSLATION OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
It has a concordance, marginal references, an appendix, and maps; hard black cover with gilt-embossed title; special Bible paper; over 1,600 pages.

Yeah, it's free. By the way, " The publication and distribution of Bibles and Bible literature by Jehovah's Witnesses is part of a worldwide Bible Educational work that is supported by voluntary donations." So is all of the other literature, Did I mention, " The publication and distribution of Bibles and Bible literature by Jehovah's Witnesses is part of a worldwide Bible Educational work that is supported by voluntary donations."

This has always pissed me off. The Witnesses will condemn other religions for passing the collection plate. Then they will remind eveyone that the collections boxes are in the back for their voluntary donations. Not only is the collection box basically the same thing passing collection plate, but unlike most other religions, Witnesses go door to door with their version of the collection plate and suggest, "The publication and distribution of Bibles and Bible literature by Jehovah's Witnesses is part of a worldwide Bible Educational work that is supported by voluntary donations."

If the NWT is really free, why isn't there a downloadable or on-line version of the NWT on the Watchtower web site??????????????
