If there's only published experiences in outlines that can be used, does this mean that ALL experiences from the platform will definetly be URBAN LEGENDS?

My JW friend regergitated alot of this stuff to me about losing faith, etc, NOT looking on the internet, yada yada yada, on infinatem, and I pointed her to this book (Of hers)
It's the reasoning book, page 118-9, under the heading of Encouragement for those being Persecuted ..
Note the 4th paragraph on page 119 (Which of course can be found in the bible too <G>)..
I then said to her, so if you are afraid of reading these words, wouldn't that indicate that it is YOU that will be destroyed?
After a blank stare for about 1 minute, without me interjecting an answer, she said that some of the brothers and sisters aren't that strong in the faith yet, and could be stumbled.
I read the scripture aloud this time, from the NWT bible. I said, surely you are solid in your faith, so you are not afraid of your opponents in any way, are you?
She responded sheepishly in the affirmative..
I followed up with, Obviously, then, that doesn't apply to you.. The speaker must not have been talking about the entire congregation, else they as a whole are afraid of their opponents words, and therefor are the ones that will be destroyed! So, certainly, he was talking only about a small group of people within the organization..
I then stopped there.. I figured that would get to her in time... (So much for food at the proper time for her)...

Yes, my friend who is still a JW told me about this part too, as he knows I'm a net user. He even offered to send me a copy of the article if I needed. He probably will because I told him, I don't have the bound volumes for the last 4 years. What makes you think I'm going to have this one issue?
Guess maybe I'll use some of those points from the reasoning book too. *S
Thanks.

BB, this
The big hoot came when dear old sister M , bent double with osteoporosis, and hands knarled with arthritus but blessed with an active mind, said solemnly that she had once read an article about the net - carefully considered it and decided that it was not for her .
is freakin' hysterical!
It reminds me of my dear old auntie. About 5 years ago before I moved to California, I bought her and hubby a Web TV. I thought they would like to fidget around on it. Hubby had MS, so was confined to a Wheelchair!
I hooked it up, etc etc, even showed them the WTBS site. (I was only 'irregular' at that time.) She was beside herself that we "were actually connected to the Slave." LOL.
Anyhow, two days later, she logged on. I had set her homepage to Microsoft, I think. A voice asked her "Where do you want to go today?"
She yanked it out of the wall and stomped the shit out of it.
When I called to ask her how it was going, she informed me that the "Internet was DEMONIC."
All of this because of some stupid ass ad. ROFLMAO.

So if all experiences must be published - on paper, not on the net - can they still revamp stories from other fundies / evangelicals so that they seem to come from the Witnesses? What about the experiences you have yourself? Or that someone had who someone you know knows someone to whom they told it? Are they still acceptable?
An old friend had some serious heart bypass work done in a foreign country. He prepared for months and months with EPO and diet, did the surgery without "blood," then took months to recouperate. The Bethel recounting of the experience had him having emergency surgery and being in field service days later. Glad they avoid the inaccuracies of the Internet!

Another point that came out at this Service Meeting item was that it is a good idea to have the family computer in the living room, where there are lots of people generally around, not tucked in a little corner of the house, and never in the kids bedroom!
This way, members of the family cannot look up dodgy stuff without being overlooked, and kids can't be antisocial by going away from the family to use the computer.

Thing is, in our household, our psycho step dad pioneer Mr congregational most loved ministerial servant bastard wanted us locked away in our bedrooms with our own TVs, videos and computers.

The guy that handled the part in our hall was pretty positive for the most part, just gave the usual cautions that most people will give when they're talking about kids and the Net. Said he used it himself for all kinds of things. The interesting thing was the comments from the audience, I had no idea so many were netwise. Some real surprisese there.

Well, one thing seems apparent.....TV is no longer #1 on the list of Satan's Tools To Make Us Stray.
