Great song,Wild Turkey. You and Lyin are in my thoughts, too. Here's one from Creed that fits for me.

    Wrong Way

    What makes you touch?
    What makes you feel?
What makes you stop and smell the roses in an open field?
    What makes you unclean?
    Yeah, Yeah
    What makes you laugh?
    What makes you cry?
    What makes our youth run
From the thought that we might die?
    What makes you bleed?
Somebody told me the wrong way
    What if I died?
    What did I give?
I hope it was an answer so you might live
I hope I helped you live
I hope I helped you live

Now, the other was non-dub realted (sorry) BUT these are DUB/life related for me --

    Learning to Fly

Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
    Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit.

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone.

A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit.

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, A state of bliss
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit.

    On the Turning Away

    On the turning away
    From the pale and downtrodden
    And the words they say
    Which we won't understand
    "Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
    The turning away"

    It's a sin that somehow
    Light is changing to shadow
    And casting it's shroud
    Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
    As the daytime is stirring
    Where the speechless unite
    In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

    No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
    No more turning away
    From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
    No more turning away?

    A New Machine - Part I

    I have always been here
I have always looked out from behind the eyes
It feels like more than a lifetime
Feels like more than a lifetime

Sometimes I get tired of the waiting
Sometimes I get tired of being in here
Is this the way it has always been?
Could it ever have been different?
Do you ever get tired of the waiting?
Do you ever get tired of being in there?
    Don't worry, nobody lives forever,
    Nobody lives forever

Another Brick In The Wall, Part II

    We don't need no education.
We don't need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
    Teacher, leave those kids alone.
Hey, Teacher, leave those kids alone!

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

    We don't need no education.
We don't need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
    Teachers, leave those kids alone.
Hey, Teacher, leave those kids alone!

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

    Mother

Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?
Mother, do you think they'll like this song?
Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?
Ooooowaa Mother, should I build a wall?

Mother, should I run for President?
Mother, should I trust the government?
Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Ooooowaa Is it just a waste of time?

Hush, my baby. Baby, don't you cry.
Momma's gonna make all of your nightmares come true.
Momma's gonna put all of her fears into you.
Momma's gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She won't let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Momma's gonna keep Baby cozy and warm.
    Oooo Babe.
    Oooo Babe.
Ooo Babe, of course Momma's gonna help build a wall.

Mother, do you think she's good enough,
    For me?
Mother, do you think she's dangerous,
    To me?
Mother will she tear your little boy apart?
Ooooowaa Mother, will she break my heart?

Hush, my baby. Baby, don't you cry.
Momma's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you.
Momma won't let anyone dirty get through.
Momma's gonna wait up until you get in.
Momma will always find out where you've been.
Momma's gonna keep Baby healthy and clean.
    Oooo Babe.
    Oooo Babe.
Ooo Babe, you'll always be Baby to me.

And ONE more for the road...

    Comfortably Numb

    Hello.
    Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
    Is there anyone home?

    Come on, now.
    I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

    Relax.
    I need some information first.
    Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
    When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
    I have become comfortably numb.

    Ok.
Just a little pinprick. There'll be no more --Aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

    Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working. Good.
That'll keep you going for the show.
Come on it's time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
    I have become comfortably numb.

I understand how you feel! How old are your children now? My children were raised in the JW religion also. The oldest was 3 and we (Kids and I) left when she was 18.

So a lot of our memories are JW related like you stated! I still have happy memories of those times. The first time they went out in service and placed magazines! First talk! And many of the JW's were as sweet as they could be. I can remember more happy times than I can sad times.

The congregation I was in when I left was starting to have some serious ego problems with the brothers that were being given positions at too early an age. There weren't that many men there so I guess they were desperate.Pushed boys where men should have been.

I also couldn't believe it was the only true religion. I have a hard time even believing the Bible now!

Plus hubby is a inactive JW and his Mom is a very active JW...so a lot of what I hear now makes me so glad I left!

But I still remember the good times! I don't think we will ever forget them. They are family memories!

Soooo Many songs. This one came to mind first.

For various reasons this one has always been special to me.

    plum

    Fleetwood Mac
    Landslide

I took my love, i took it down
climbed a mountain and i turned around
and i saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'til the landslide brought it down
    oh, mirror in the sky
    -what is love?
-can the child within my heart rise above?
-can i sail thru the changin' ocean tides?
-can i handle the seasons of my life?
    i don't know.....
well, i've been afraid of changin'
'cause i've built my life around you
    but time makes you bolder
    even children get older
    and i'm getting older too
oh, take my love, take it down
climb a mountain and turn around
-and if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
well the landslide will bring it down
-and if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
well the landslide will bring it down
the landslide will bring it down

    Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high,
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me,
Where troubles melt like lemon drops.
    Away above the chimney tops
    That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly,
    Birds fly over the rainbow,
Why then, oh why can't I?

    If happy little bluebirds fly
    Beyond the rainbow,
    Why oh why can't I?

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD - LOUIS ARMSTRONG

i see trees of green red roses, too i see them bloom for me and you and i think to myself, what a wonderful world i see skies of blue and clouds of white the bright, blessed day the dark, sacred night and i think to myself, what a wonderful world the colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky, are also on the faces of people going by i see friends shaking hands, saying "how do you do?" they're really saying "i love you" i hear babies crying i watch them grow they laugh much more than i'll ever know and i think to myself, what a wonderful world i think to myself, what a wonderful world

This one has always held a special place in my heart for other various reasons So much It use to be the messege on my answering machine <img src='/forum/images/smilies/big.gif' align=middle> Tell me, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?) 'Cause I really wanna know...beep The Who Who Are You Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Who are you? Who, who, who, who? I woke up in a Soho doorway A policeman knew my name He said "You can go sleep at home tonight If you can get up and walk away" I staggered back to the underground And the breeze blew back my hair I remember throwin' punches around And preachin' from my chair chorus: Well, tell me who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?) I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?) Tell me, who are you? (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?) 'Cause I really wanna know (Who are you? Who, who, who, who?) I took the tube back out of town Back to the Rollin' Pin I felt a little like a dying clown With a streak of Rin Tin Tin I stretched back and I hiccupped And looked back on my busy day Eleven hours in the Tin Pan God, there's got to be another way Who are you? Ooh wa ooh wa ooh wa ooh wa ... Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Tell me, who are you? I know there's a place you walked Where love falls from the trees My heart is like a broken cup I only feel right on my knees I spit out like a sewer hole Yet still recieve your kiss How can I measure up to anyone now After such a love as this? Tell me Tell me, who are you?who are you 'Cause I really wanna know who are you Tell me who the hell are you? who are you

WT and lyineyes.......yes! You both have been in my thoughts this past week! When eyegirl told me what was going on I wanted to hug you both. Even though your decision must have been liberating (as mine was) it still is sad. You lose a "part of you".......well, at least I did.

I went to download that song, wt. I want to hear it set to music since the lyrics are so nice!

Nothing like goosebumps and tears with my first cup of coffee! What a beautiful song, WT! To hear it to music and such a wonderful voice was more than I expected. Thanks!
