  Hello everyone ... just got back from the Bible Students General Convention held in Johnstown, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh/Allegheny, birth place of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society.

  I was browsing one of the tables where one could place or pick up programs of various Bible Student conventions being held throughout the USA and came across the program for the Grand Rapids Bible Students Convention to be held in October.

  They have four speakers, and what a motley crew it is. Three are Bible Students from different camps, and one is Ron Frye, former Watchtower Circuit Overseer and member of BRCI. Go figure!

  What was said at the Bible Student Convention that would be of any interest? Any talk about Israel and the events that are taking place?

  I was under the impression that one had to be a Bible Student in order to speak at one of their conventions. Do they make exceptions? I would like to hear what Frye has to say at the convention. Are the others of the BS faith?

  Has Ron Fry joined the Bible Student movement, or is he just a guest speaker at their upcoming convention?

  Although Ron Frye is a student of the Bible, he is NOT a 'Bible Student'.

  I spoke to one of the elders in the Grand Rapids ecclesia [congregation] and he simply told me that his name was put forward as a spaker and it went through with the classes approval.

  Some ecclesias are more liberal than others as far as who speaks. This is the first that I have seen where one such as Ron Frye has spoken at a Bible Student convention. Although I understand that Ron Frye and Jim Penton have spoken at "Free Bible Student" conferences, these Bible Students are not affiliated with us.

  As to the General Convention an Israel? To my knowledge there were no discussions on Israel persay, at least nothing newsworthy.

  RR.... JW conventions are boring and repetitious. Since most of the "food" came from C.T. Russell, what do you folks listen to? Is it "old light" or revised speculations? Early WT. history has always been something of interest to me.
