RR.... JW conventions are boring and repetitious. Since most of the "food" came from C.T. Russell, what do you folks listen to? Is it "old light" or revised speculations? Early WT. history has always been something of interest to me.
"revised speculation"? I like that!
Well my point is, truth is truth. JW's tell me, "you didn't advance" "You stayed with the old light." BUt Truth doesn't chnage. so if it was truth yesterday, it should be truth today.
So yes, we pretty much believed the "old light." However, we are living in prophetic times, and so we do speak about the times we're living in, prophetic fullfillment as in the restoration of the Nation of Israel, the signs of the times, etc.
Bible Students conventions are alot more relax than JW conventions.
The General convention is the longest. It last six days. Program starts at 9:30 am and usually ends around 8:00 pm. There is an 1/2 intermission between each session, a two hour lunch and a two hour dinner. session are varied with discourses, questions meetings, panel discussions, symposiums and debates.
After the convention is over for the day, there is fellowship to the we hours of the night. Some gather together in small groups for topical subjects, others get together for chit chat.
No one is ever forced to attend all the sessions, you come and go as you please.
There are even children and young adult sessions apart from the adults.
oh ... and lots an lots of ice cream! :)
