Many, many Witnesses feel they need structure. Some people are very self sufficient while others are needy. Some like to be told what to do. Others view their associations as that of a social club.I don't know how many JW's view their religion as GARBAGE, but I know a number that feel this regiment keeps them secure.

Puffsrule: LOL on the JustJW posts. I get their posts via email and I saw all of those earlier today. Applebee and the one named Ben are the two "critical thinkers" who keep the apostate-like posts rolling in. Just recently, however, Ben seemed to buckle under and turn soft, and hasn't posted hardly anything for a few days. A lady named Carolyn jumped right in on the sticky debates, which I thought was good. They also keep going round and round about their so-called Debate Section. Previously it was stated by the owner, I believe, that it was OK to discuss these (anti) JW things, but now the regular dubs are back whining about it. Why don't they learn to stay OUT of the Debate area, is what I keep wondering! The comment I liked the best today was Applebee who told them something like, "You can't tell you're under mind control WHILE you're under mind control..." ;)
More on this topic: When I was a dub, I had NO IDEA it could be garbage. If anybody else thought so, I sure didn't hear about it or know it. Guess I was a ditzy-dub.

Ah I remember those self rightious elders, saying things like that, they know where they're teens are. LOL Ya when I was a teen, they were hanging out with me, and smoking dope, and having sex.

As my teenage years went on I gradually came to the conclusion that what I was being told at the Kingdom Hall was absolute crap. The reason I kept on going until I was 21 was not wanting to hurt my family and the fact that all my friends were dubs. I had a steady dub girlfriend as well and really didn't mind 2 or 3 meetings per week and 1 hour field service per month (of course I would report about 8 hours!)
Eventually though meeting attendance became less and less and field service was non-existent. As a prominent elders son I decided to go before I was pushed! But I've always wondered how many feel like I felt but just carry on going for the sake of peace with family and friends. A large percentage I'd say. For many it's just a way of life.

I have to comment on this thread because I personally know more than just a few dubs who KNOW it is all a lie and yet they continue to stay simply for the social aspects. It is a way of life for them. They don't have a single friend who is not a JW.
What I can't understand is WHY do they continue to try to bring others in?

good morning!!!
getting back to the 23,000 cases filed; since this is not a legitimate law enforcement agency,
wont the BORG get in big trouble with FBI, etc....for withholding this much crime activity unreported,
or something........just curious....if so, has the "dime" been dropped yet?rocky

I've had some admit to me that they stay for the "good moral guidance". (I guess child abuse is ok) However, if you need to be in a cult in order to keep yourself from sleeping around, etc., then you have a seriously weak mind.

Hey....another example!
I met a dub the other night in a casino I go to. He is about 28 and in 'good standing'!He told me he lost 25 the other week. I like playing blackjack and usually win. (I went tonight and won!) He still goes because of his parents. I have gone drinking with him previously also. He lost his virginity recently, also!
He will probably still go until his parents die!
