Harmony, That looks like a dream! & hubba hubba, is that one of the "wonderful locals" you were talking about? K, I'll behave now......

Not exactly a dream but I can tell you about our family vacation. Well, except for fleeing from 3 tornadoes that were 15 & 20 miles from us on the freeway during our ride there, we had a pretty good time at Wisconsin Dells last week. The "Wilderness" resort has its own water parks, golf course, and play parks reserved for guests only which meant no waiting in lines. The kids had a blast. I spent most of the time lounging in the sun while everyone else exhausted themselves on the waterslides all day. Heres a few pics.

My hubby, son and daughter taking a quick break from the giant slides for a quick picture.

Can you guess which one is me? I'll give you a hint, Im the only one actually sitting in the tube.

Ummm, I've been to that beach Sabine. It's just that old guys make women and children run away screaming when you adhere to the dress code there.

Dutchie, you're a woman after my own heart! I spent some of the happiest days of my life traipsing around Bavaria, sampling the wonderful beers and wines. Mmmm. Stunningly beautiful countryside too (as I recall from a few sober moments).

LB, lol, you mean the "undress code"? Makena is right at home there, all his beach buddies ask about him if he's not there. We've met people from all over the world, all shapes and sizes.

I think it should be the Hawaii Apostafest locale.

So far, no screaming...unless we forget the sunscreen.

Anywhere is good. Just go somewhere you've never been before.

I have vacationed in various places, I've cuised the Pacific; been to the Grampian Mountains of Victoria, Australia; the Mountains of Bulgaria; Venice, Italy. I've even been to Englishman's home town but I think the couintryside is better than the coast in that region.

I took Mrs. Thirdson to the nicest places in England not far from where I grew up (but not where I grew up!!!) and she thought it was wonderful, while I thought it was ordinary. We honeymooned in British Columbia and I think the Pacific coast of Vancouver Island is the place I want to end up in. I want to go back to Australia, I want to visit New Zealand.

It all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. Me personally, I like to do things, I don't like lying on a beach, but I do like exploring rock pools. I don't like crowded resorts but I do like visiting interesting cities. I prefer bed & breakfast to cheap hotels and like to drive but in certain places the subway/rail system is the better way to get around.

I guess I don't really have a favorite vacation spot because I haven't been to enough places to make a decision yet. I hope I never have to make that decision.

I traveled to the island of Saba (2 1/2 hours by boat from St. Maarten) in May. No phones no hassles, just houses perched on the side of an extinct Volcano rising three thousand feet into the sky. And the friendliest people you could ever meet. I want to retire there.
