Locating Their Achilles Heel

Of course they already tried to re-visit the 1914 issue with that silly explanation altering the entire meaning of the term, "Generation" Utter Psycho-Babble!

Twain, so true, so true. The unavoidable hazzard whenever attempting to foist the old "havingone'scakeandeatingittoo" slickeroo as oft done by the WTS.

While the new "generation" interpretation disconnected the generation that would "not pass away until all these things occur" from the year and [claimed] events of 1914---so that its identifying aspect no longer has anything to do with those born in/old enough to discern events of the year 1914---as had been previously, and torturously, reasoned for years by the Society, the new "understanding" very craftily was careful to not disconnect the fds's claim of appointment by Jesus from the year 1914. Get it? The so-called "1914 generation" was kicked to the curb but the fds's appointment---and, thereby, its claim to authority--- was left in tact. So far, that is. Such a flash of "new light" bought time but not much, with 2014 fast approaching.

I'm guessing the conspicuous absence of the topic of the annointed in the new textbook released at this year's DC may be the first in a series of calculated maneuvers to facelift, if not completely re-invent, the whole fds doctrine.

An aside: As I was cynically struggling to "accept" the new generation teaching, circa 1995, I remarked to my husband "It would be nice if, just once, the Society would receive its new light before its old light was ass out."

    Same still holds.

I think the flow of information will reach a point where many key individuals, particularly well-know elders will start stepping "aside" and fading away in significant numbers. Eventually things will get to a point where people HAVE to stop lying to themselves. When a significant number begin to leave and the real reasons why they are leaving are gossipped about in so many private conversations they just can no longer be dismissed and ignored.

Already many uncomfortable topics are tossed around much more so than in the past. I think many are trying to find ways of justifying the problems but many are searching for what it all means. So many are simply overlooking the most obvious- "religion is a snare and a racket".

No one wants to be played for a fool and no one wants to be the last off a sinking ship. That uncomfortable thought constantly plays itself over and over in the minds of many - "what if we are wrong?" Increasingly it will just be the mentally ill, the elderly and those completely dependant on the Society for their means of living.

Yeah! New light on the generation doctrine in the 81st year! How bloody convenient!

I remember a few months before "this generation" change came out.

I came across a quote from Ray Franz stating that the Society would be forced

to change their view regarding the time left and 1914. I also remember a quote

from, I believe the procalaimers book..stating that many who left the org. may have been

right regarding certain matters but they didnt rely on Jehovahs.

It seems to me if you want new light..just ask the apostates what coming up.

    Now you've got me laughing!

Anyway as I recall that infamous Generation article spoke about how the time of the Napoleonic Age could be spoken of as a Generation. So I guess according to them they could apply that explanation to the age of the Pharoahs which lasted for several thousand years! All of this explaining when the fact is that a generation is decribed as, "A single succession in natural descent." In other words A PERSON'S LIFETIME---PERIOD!!

So back in "95 I inquired and asked, "So a generation is an era right?" I was sternly counseled not to use the term Era because the Society wasn't using that term. Well, I'm sorry to say that I had the dubious honor of teaching this Generation stuff to the congregation from the platform. After I was done I told my wife that I felt like I had just baffled everybody with bull-shit!

    Twain:

All of this explaining when the fact is that a generation is decribed as, "A single succession in natural descent." In other words A PERSON'S LIFETIME---PERIOD!!

How succinctly put! No need for mazes of "it would appear," "it seems evident," "we can assume," or "there should be no doubt" and other such flimsy language as is called upon only when trafficking in snake oil.

"A single succession in natural descent---a person's lifetime." What could be simpler if one's intent is to convey a solidly-based, easily-understood teaching in the manner Jesus would?

Only the WTS need concoct some 20 +/- paragraphs and accompanying questions to re-define a concept so elementary that it has undergone virtually zero transformation in meaning since Jesus employed it!

Makes even sincere JWs suspicious and I believe the next flash of brighter light might just be the bolt of lightening that blows the cover on this entire sting operation. Jmo.
