Sorry Comforter, but todays times are hardly the worst. You have the highest lifespan in history and the highest level of living. Many diseases that killed millions have been whiped off the earth. Comfortor you are WANTING this to be the last days, and as such are looking for reasons for it to be.
And stop refering to yourself in the third person! Do you have some sort of complex?

Comforter - Yes it does appear that evil in the world is accelerating. However, mass communication has accelerated as well. All these things have always happened. Today we have AIDS. 300 Years ago we had the Plague. I found out that the town right accross the river from me was entirely wiped out by Influenza in the year 1918. But see, in the past you didn't hear about it because there was no mass communication. Today you hear about everything everywhere, and that's why it seems so much worse.
Comforter,
Look again at the 3 points in my initial reply to you. You have to explain why e.g. AIDS is a sign of the last days while the Black Death was not.
Why should AIDS be a sign of the last days? You can just as well believe anything is a sign of the last days. In fact, I suspect you do.
Never has there been such a time when people are afraid to come out of there homes or afriad to stay in them.
Never have there been such a time when people are so amazingly ignorant about the past.
Why do you think cities in medieval and rennaisance Europe had walls around them? You seriously think people were safer, or felt safer, back then, when not even a whole city was safe from crime?
Actually, in historical terms, it is quite unique that in many, perhaps most, cities in the western world, women can go out alone, reasonably safe, at night. You think a woman could do that in e.g. Rome around 33 AD or London in e.g. the 1600s?

Last days reconsidered??? Are we living the last days?
One word: No and I won't explain to you as other posters (JanH, Vivamus, libra_spirit and others) had already done that.

Then, why are you here?
To Comforter:
Do you by your conviction that the current events are, in their totality, the worst in man's history? Without minimizing the serious, seemingly intractable problems we face, would you really have preferred to lived 200, 100, or even 80 years ago? Do you dispute that the quality of life has never been higher for a larger segment of the human race than it is right now?

i made my case and comforter will not say anymore on the subject. those who want to believe will believe. those who do not will not. The bibler say that faith is not a possession of all people. but it is not only the events that constitute the last days but the time period and the fact that we have a composite sign in our time. we may not alway understand the significance of the signs. that don't mean the end will never come.
Room
it depend on what you mean by quality of life. materially, people might be better off. but i do not feel people are today better off mentally, spiritually or existentially.

Janh! Do you see what I mean??? Its like talking to a wall! Whats the point??? I realize your commitment to the 3rd party reader but I just dont have the patience.
dont try to turn this thang around, crazee. it is not reasonable to expect comforter to argue for days with someone who mind is already made up. we can jest state our opposing points and let the reader decide. there is no such thing as winning a debate. i aint even gonner try.
comfy
comfy,
i made my case and comforter will not say anymore on the subject.
So that's how it looks like when you wave the white flag.
Crazy,
Of course I know. i already knew he'd react like this. I have read his crap before.
But why tell people he's a moron when I can let him say so himself?
