Name your cat after a favorite or interesting character from a movie or TV show you like. Professional writers come up with the best names.

Such great ideas! C-A-T is very clever. Duchess is always good for a cat--so regal. I did call her Lady Audrey (after Audrey Hepburn for her small stature) at 1st, but it didn't roll off my tongue.

A wonderful idea to name her after a favorite TV program--like Frazier or Scrubs (Elliott). I'll have to think on that for a while.

These are all great ideas. I love Marmalade too!

I've been kinda like Bitter Mango in calling her something different every day until something sticks!

Why don't you name is Splendor - so when it goes outside and pees, you can say "Hey there's Splendor in the grass."

Oh sure Valis only you would come up with the name "pussy galore", you James Bond person, you. And here I thought all along you were only devoted to the smurfs.

I've had a kitty, rascal, tyke (tyker), tinkerbell (daughter's pick); ginger (colour); tabi; blynx & a fritz (anyone remember that movie) but my favourite name was DC, even the people at the vet's knew what that stood for; too bad she just up and left me after a year...must have been the name?

    GREAT Thread!

I'm a certified "cat nut", so I'm enjoying this topic immensely!

We've had Bitsy (dark calico), Piddles (black & white like a cow print), Duffy (HUGE calico longhair), Ricky (orange & white mix, one of my daughters named him, and another of hers was Tony, orange & lots of white) Priscilla, ( a big all-grey longhair) Trubbles (tabby w/ lots of white) Bandit, (multicolor with patches over his eyes like a mask) Ploom, (pale gray & white longhair with a tail like a fat feather or a plume on an old-fashioned ladies hat) Ploom was the sweetest and best-tempered cat I can ever remember having. We had him 15 years before he died 2 1/2 years ago, we still miss him terribly.

We now (2 years) have Molly and Mandy from the shelter, Molly is a very pale calico mix (she can drown out the TV when she PURRS SO LOUD!!!) Mandy ( regular Tabby cat and a REAL clown)

I had a chance to get a Main Coon (sigh) but hubby said two's enough for now....I call'em my fur kids :o)

Friends had cats named Winky, Muff, Purrty, Martha, Rosie, Jinx, Trixie, Chester, Boomer, Pete, Poncho and Cheddar!

    There ya go!

    Hugs,

    Annie

Hi Curious, JoannaDandy, & Sunspot! Great names all. Over the weekend I've called her Topaz and Mon Ami. I'm thinking in a French vein now . But since yesterday afternoon, I've been calling her Cat (short for Catherine). Remember the movie Cat Ballou?

I'm having a tough time settling on a name for her. Cat also lends itself to Lady Cat, Cat Ballou, Cat Girl, Cat Woman. We'll see if it sticks.

You know what? I bet it's because I don't have any kids around calling her something and having the names stick!
