And, for comparison, my graph of the past few years (showing total pubs):

Interesting. I predicted (as did others) that the new 15 minute-a-month publisher rule would temporarily boost numbers considerably. But I see no such huge rise in publisher numbers.

What it seems to have done is quite interesting; it's removed the peak publishers all together. I suppose if everyone that can is putting in 15 minutes a month, there is no one left to put in extra reports in the peak periods.

    Just a ballistic observation.

I've been out of it a while, or maybe it's a UK thing...what's the 15 minute a month thing?

Previously you could not fill out a monthly field service report for less than one hour. Anything less than that should be carried forward to the next month.

Now, things have changed. Some of the elderly ones and disabled ones in the congregation are now authorised to report 15, 30, or 45 minutes in a month. Although this was only supposed to be open to specific members of the congregation, everyone I know is now reporting in 15 minute increments. I no longer carry forward parts of an hour. So if I do 9 1/2, that's what I put down. Not 9, and carry forward 1/2 hour. It's not what was asked, but we haven't been told off about it yet.

Matty - although this is a special arrangement, was it not in conjunction with the change to book study conductors collecting reports, in such a way that he could almost coerce anyone into putting down the odd 15 mins and hence be counted?

    Ballistic:

Yes, that is the whole point of this new method. Bloody good way to reduce book study attendance, imo.

Thanks dmouse, for taking the trouble to present this in graph form. I've been looking at it for a while and can see a 'flattening out' just as ballistic has pointed out.

There also now seems to be a gradual decline, so that if you were to draw a trend line or moving average, you would see it sloping to the right.

This must be causing some concern at London Bethel. I wonder how they view this situation? Perhaps as a sign of the "love of the greater number cooling off" perhaps?

    Cheers, Ozzie
