Actually, minimus, it was my abusive, manipulative father that trained me to be quick-witted and honed my sarcasm. When I took my first philosophy class, the instructor kept asking "have you taken this class already?" because my father had trained me well in formal arguing. I know I have a way to go after reading many of the fine responses here.

I think the problem you are observing is a common one caused by inexperienced Witness youths rushing into ill-advised marriages because they want sex and techniaclly can't get it outside marriage. They also seem to look for someone who seems to have been round the block a few times. Not the basis of solid marriages.
