onacruse said: "Their eyes were opened, to be sure (see v. 7), but the result was quite different from what the serpent had promised."

Actually, that would make sense.........and you're right, Satan did twist the scriptures while tempting Jesus.......thanks for the input!

Ummmm..puzzled, that's a little late in the game don't you think? If none of that craziness happened then Dog would have made it much more challenging for us to figure out who or wat it is. Not just the record of a pissing contest he got into w/a rowdy angel. (I don't believe in Dog, just so you know)...I thought we were talking about Adam and Eve and Satan...not way after Dog had to play the sacrifice card to prove his point to an inferior being. I would love to hear the transcript of Dog and Satan bullshitting w/each other...I wonder if they ever got down to insulting one another's manhood or womanhood or whateverhood...*L*

    Sincerely,

I thought we were talking about why we are still here after Adam and eve ate the fruit anyway.

And about the card playing, you didnt get that from me!LOL Maybe Satan just opened up his own web site since he didnt like playing by Gods rules.

It gets even more interesting when you realize that Satan wasn't even there. Genesis is one of the many books of the OT where Satan receives not even 1 dishonorable mention!

Notice the curse upon the serpent 'to go upon your belly and eat dust'. Yes, God cursed the serpent. He did not curse the Devil and tell him to put down the <@#%&$*!> snake puppet.

The more you read the bible, the more you realize it is just a collection of myths that get more advanced from start to finish. It's an evolution of conciousness.

I believe they did die that very day, not bodily but of the spirit in which they were clothed. this is why the Christ brought the holy spirit back to us, that we may be clothed in the spirit, for he who believes in the lord will live forever and never die. with the disobedience of Adam we lost the holy spirit, with the complete obedience of Christ we receive eternal life clothed in the holy spirit.

    Cellomould mistakenly states:

Notice the curse upon the serpent 'to go upon your belly and eat dust'. Yes, God cursed the serpent. He did not curse the Devil....

For your information, Cellomould, the curse upon the serpent was actually a curse upon the Devil. The serpent was innocent of any wrongdoing, a mere tool used by Satan in order to deceive Eve, so what reason would God have to curse this helpless little creature. Too, for your information, the serpent never had legs to begin with. It has ALWAYS gone upon its belly on the dust of the ground. This lowly creature was created that way from the beginning. So you ask: If it was Satan then that the curse applied to rather than the serpent, then how is it that Satan has had to live his life since that day as if having to go upon his belly and eat dust? I'll let you work on that for a while, while I get some sleep. I think that it was so very appropriate that since Satan had stooped so low as to use his powers to control this disadvantaged, legless creature and to use it for such a dishonorable purpose that Satan himself should have to experience the same lowliness.

That's not what it says in the Bible, Yadirf. Can you show me a scripture that states - or even implies - that the serpent was a tool of Satan? Or are you "going beyond what is written"?

Smurfs are far more real than Satan!!!!

Once, a religious person told me after I told her I didn't believe in the existence of the Devil, you know, the Cloven Hooved One, that the greatest trick Satan ever did was convincing the world that he didn't exist.

So then I told her that God's greatest trick was convincing the world that he existed!

    She was not pleased.

    Mary......

What I am inspired to understand that I feel is the answer to your question is that most all references to life, death and resurrection is speaking in a spiritual and not physical sense.

Together with the scripture you are questioning is the scripture stating "he that has faith in Christ will never die at all. "

The key to understanding all this scripture and others is knowing that what is being spoken of is spiritual death. That means being disconnected from the source of life the Creator. It is like not having access to the recharging of a battery. The machine can run on the battery for a length of time before it ceases to operate altogether. But the moment God disconnected from man man although physically still alive was considered instantly (in the day) dead spiritually.

Also there is "do not be afraid of he that can just destroy the body but not body and soul in Gehenna. Destroying the body is physical death. Body and soul in Gehenna is speaking of spiritual death. Realize Christ himself was in Gehenna for three days. His spirital death preceded his physical death. He had been abandoned or cut off from God before he was able to be killed.

Thus Jesus cried out at his death "Father, father, why have you foresaken me." This indicating his spiritually dead condition. His resurrection was thusly spiritual as he was resurrected in the sense of having his relationship restored with God.

Also is explained the first and second resurrection in Revelation. The first resurrection to a restored relationship with God could only occur after Christ ransom sacrafice and the foregiveness of sin. Until that time all men of righteousness (those that love God and neighbor) had to sleep in spiritual death until they were reconnected to God at this point.

The first ones of those thereafter to die as faithful followers of Christ will receive the first resurrection to serve for 1000 years with Christ within the first Millenium following Christ resurrection to spirit life. After the 1000 years there will be a resurrection for the rest of the dead both righteous and unrighteous.

After the release of Satan from spiritual bondage there has been a time of testing for mankind at the end of which there will be a final judgement in the last days of all of mankind and a deternination of who would be deemed wicked and suffer the second death. After this death and Hades will be cast into the lake of fire meaning only tat man would never die again spiritually .
