I'm beginning to think the 100 years past 1914 is having an internal effect on many JWS, although not openly.

The bullshit chariot the WTS has been pulling for the last 130 years is starting to show its regretful redundancy.

The story with this hall being empty during the 2014 assembly season was exactly as capytan mentioned. Most of us were attending the mega conventions in Houston and other areas. But there is more to the story than meets the eye. In order to make this easier to understand to people from other parts of the country and the world, I will provide a map of the general area.

As you can see, we seat very far south near the US-Mexico border. Many around here jokingly call this area a DMZ, because we seat right between the real border and another border check point north of us. This CBP check points are spread all over the country, from coast to coast and they exist in every road that is headed north of the border. Their purpose is to catch both, illegal drugs as well as illegal immigrants. Most of the JWs on this circuit are illegal immigrants themselves. I would say that about 50-60% of those who attend my hall are undocumented people from Mexico. This individuals can not travel out of the area heading north as they risk getting caught at this check points and getting deported, leaving behind all of their belongings and family members.

Prior to this assembly hall existing, most of the assemblies were celebrated in school stadiums in the area, giving everyone a chance to attend, regardless of their legal status. This is thought to be Jehovah's way or so you would imagine. When I was the good JW I used to be, never I dared to question why the 3 day assemblies were never carried out in local stadiums just like the others. Giving everyone a chance to attend. This only became evident until recently, not only because I've awaken, but also because now we have our own local AH.

The place in La Feria, TX, where everyone can attend, yet, during 2014, not a single assembly (english or spanish) was celebrated in this hall. Everyone was shipped north to big stadium, no matter if your assembly was international or not. I went around pretending to be curious and asking the undocumented brothers about their attendance but everyone said they did not have an assembly scheduled for them

I wonder how many dare to question in their mind... How is it that Jehovah used thousands of illegal workers to build an assembly hall but then decided to have assemblies in places where they can not attend? Does Jehovah cares so much about money that he can not have an assembly here even if it is just for the relatively few that stay behind? Would Jesus ever leave people behind?

All that tech is why no one gets those cheese filled pastries for breakfast anymore. I used to really like those. *sigh

Lieu, you sound like me! I was so excited after my friend told me she saw them at smart & final, but I searched and she was mistaken :(. Dang! They were so good. Some years I was all about the apple, some years all about the cheese. Sometimes you could sneak eating some during the program too. Esp during the drama! Take the Danish out of the plastic during music or applause, eat it in the dark :).

im seriously craving one of those Danishes. It's been how many years? 15? 20?

Fascinating that they spend so much time on "doubting".

Shows that they recognize this is a major problem.

Also shows that they are utterly & astoundingly clueless on how to address the issue. They seem to think that scolding people over and over and over and over again will cure them of their doubts.

You'd think that after decades of scolding, hundreds of scolding talks & articles & videos & more talks & more articles & more videos, scold scold scold, and "doubting" is still an issue....you'd think that they would figure out that scolding just isn't working.

Hey dimbulbs! How about actually addressing the issues that cause people to doubt? Morons.

Yes It's really fascinating how they spoke so much about doubt. When it's about doubtful person, you have only two choice :

    1. Trying to convince them (with proof and arguments) that their doubt are superfluous

    2. Trying everything (especially by blaming) to make them feel guilty about the fact they have doubts.

And, no surprisingly, WTBTS'GB choose the second choice. Like usually!

I know some British dubs who have (in private) grumbled about the WT policy of accepting illegals for baptism ..."obeying Caesar's laws, and all that"??

When I was active the WTS was clear that illegal immigrants could not serve as elders or ministerial servants. Is that still the case? Is it enforced?
