In the same time, all religions are human buildings ;)
It is just the opinion of men, not a religion...

Phizzy2 minutes agoThe topic title would be a great challenging statement to make to JW's i.e :
"Can you prove to me that what you teach is not merely the opinion of men ?"I can well imagine the JWs referring to their cherry picked scriptures in the bible and thinking they're giving a 'thorough witness(tm)'.

ALL religions, sects, cults, organizations in general, are always the interpretation of men, for the founding texts are always open to different men's interpretation.

Religion, every religion is just the corruption of power over faith.
That elder just proved he was a human with self righteous brown nose inclinations. That he is a JW is only incidental. He'd still be the equivalent jerk in a SBC church, a mosque or the Buddhist temple down the street from me.

I like what Phizzy said : "Can you prove to me that what you teach is not merely the opinion of men ?"
And when they quote a Bible verse or even show you a scripture you would be quite right to say , you have just proven my point , every word in the Bible is the product of men , Jehovah and Jesus , never wrote anything down ,it`s all the work of men and their opinions.

they messed my mind up all my life.
I know how you feel, they messed mine up for nearly 30 years.
In the congregation I was in our CoBE would insist that all sisters wear skirts/dresses with a hem below the knee. Then we got a new CO and his wife always wore skirts/dresses where the hem was always above the knee, and she had nice legs.

Like was saying the Baron d'Holbach
"Every religion is only a system build to reconcile inconsistencies with the help of mysteries"

SofiaL - Agreed
JWDaughter - Religions are not my favourite institutions, especially when they encourage idiots to go beyond their station in life.
Smiddy - Indeed. I can imagine the circular argument begin with them...or....the 'refer to jw.org.' cop out.

Driving - Nice legs, shame about the mindset.
Coal-eyes - I tend to think that religion just gives people the excuse of magic to plug the gaps in knowledge or to remove fear of the unknown.
