That is SO sad.
My heart goes out to the family.

...........
Lawrence Hughes, Bethany's father, could not be reached late Thursday, as he was travelling to Edmonton.
The last time he saw his daughter was mid-July, just before Bethany, her mother and younger sister left for the Edmonton treatment.
The father spent three hours in his lawyer's office Thursday morning exploring legal avenues in a bid to see his dying daughter, said his lawyer Bob Calvert. Lawrence talked to his daughter at least once a week by telephone, but he didn't know exactly where she was staying, nor was he able to contact her.
This is so tragic. ............
I am sickened by the fact that her lawyer was with her and NOT her father. How's that for JWs priorities!
He had every right to see his daughter one last time. Gimme 5 minutes alone with that excuse for a mother. This infuriates me.
The ONLY one I feel saddened for is the father, and a teenager who should've never been put in that position.

AAaaaaaarghhhh !!!!
This is so sad. And the way "Mia" was used as a political football by the WTS sickens and saddens me. I thought the last report was that she was "doing fine without the transfusions". That sounded suspicious at the time, and now our suspicions have been sadly confirmed.
Our thoughts (and prayers for those who pray) are with Bro. Hughes.
Mimilly, I agree:
The ONLY one I feel saddened for is the father, and a teenager who should've never been put in that position.
I am deeply saddened by this turn of events and want to express my condolences and deepest sympathies to Shunned Father. I am so sorry for your loss.

How very sad.
It is impossible to know whether this young woman could have survived if the Watchtower had allowed her to have the full benefit of medical treatment. It is just such a shame that her final months were spent under such trauma, with her family torn apart. Very, very sad.
Now they have another martyr to put on the cover of the Asleep! magazine. Wonderful. My heart goes out to Shunned Father.
Many thanks again Rado for your brilliant site.
The "Oh, she would have died anyway" trump card will be pulled out yet again I'm sure.
I feel so ashamed of how I used to vehemently justify the blood doctrine.
