Those are tough ones to answer and we would have to rely on PEW research (or the like) to confirm the numbers. I think that regardless of whether they are fabricating their numbers or not, we may be able to observe that effect indirectly by watching their financials. And, since their financials are closed for public viewing, what we may be able to observe is more and more desperation in asking for funds in JW TV, magazine articles, and talks. Not a perfect answer but that may be all we get for now.

Please check this page out. http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/statistics.php
Unquestionably there are more Witnesses now than 5, 10, 20 years ago but the statistics show worrying trends, not least the number of hours required to get just one baptism.

How many are still reporting but don't believe a word of it is a more important question.
Many are witness in appearance only, a piece of paper means nothing when counting closet non-believers.
A graph or chart won't reveal what those reporting really think or feel.

Doesn't PEW get the member/publisher numbers from the WTBTS? So, whoever the WTBTS counts is the number they start with. -

It's hard to accuse them of fabricating the numbers when there is not a shred of evidence they do so. A strong indicator that they do not fabricate the numbers is their reporting the number of partakers at the annual memorials which, contrary to their belief, have shown annual consecutive increases. Only the organzation has access to memorial partaker numbers and they could easily trim the increasing partaker numbers but don't (although it could still be speculated they are higher than tne officially reported numbers - I guess there will alwahs be a shadoe of doubt over the organization's reporting since it has shoen itself to be dishonest in other areas). -

Looking at the record for Watchtower honesty regarding their own history which they change to suit the times . ,quotations supposedly supporting their doctrines often mis-represented and taken out of context of the original source ,lying in a court of law " Vin O`Toole " shunning is a myth " and also stating in a court of law JW`s don`t conduct schools , ( Kingdom Ministry School ) come to mind ? where children participate .{ A court case in Vict.Australia } when I believe but haven`t verified ",kingdom Ministry School " was removed from signs outside Kingdom halls in Victoria.
Do we need to bring up about theocratic warfare here ? Withholding information , misleading information ,only giving out part truths ," not throwing pearls before swine" ? as an excuse for withholding the truth ?
So taking all of the above on face value and I`m sure you could add more reasons ,
Why in the hell would you take notice of anything W.T. / J.W.`s say about anything ?
Their record speaks volumes as to who and what they are.
by the way welcome 1rebelheart

Even though retention might be 2/3 in the US (as shown by studies), it does not necessarily mean it is the same worldwide...
