About the two beheaded Witnesses

I got to thinking about this at work a couple of nights ago.

A news story said that the two JW's killed weren't (apparently) proselytizing in the Phillipines, which is described as a heavily Muslim nation. Though they were found with Avon products, Avon said the two were neither employees nor representatives.

Now, why would two JW's be in a heavily Muslim land, possibly pretending to be something they're not? Were they just lugging the stuff from place to place for someone as a favor?

I can come up with one answer, and any comments received should be pretty interesting: Could they have been-----------

    Spies?

Now wait, don't laugh yet. At one time many of us (myself included) would have thought the idea of the WBTS "Sleeping With the Enemy" (to borrow a movie title) in the person of the UN would've been a crock, or having a stake in a company having a stake in a company doing work with possible military applications would've been impossible.

But the proof is there...it's been posted here and can be found using the search feature.

Could the WBTS find a Scriptural reason for spying? Would the incident with Rahab the harlot (actually, she was more a Benedict Arnold than a spy) in the OT be used to justify similar activity today?

Could they not have been "preaching" under the guise of selling cosmetics? That way they could say that any discussion of relgion was started by the householder and they were simply expressing their personal beliefs not proselytizing.

The WTS will deny any responsibility or involvement in this undercover operation.

They have been SPYING for years. Thats how they determine to disfellowship people who are suspected of shacking up with someone....or carrying on apostate buisness......by spying. By hiding in cars or vans with biboculars and the whole nine yards.

Dude, the reason there are no Dub Spies is because of their extremely short life spans! People who are easily brainwashed do not make very good spies! It's called natural selection!

I agree with Thirdson! " preaching under the guise of selling cosmetics?"

What is there to spy for a J.W. in a overall Muslim country? There are some catholics though, but they are a minority!

    Just a thought!

I sincerely doubt that the WTS had people "spying" out there.

What would be the purpose of such '"spying"?

What could the Watchtower Society possibly do with any "intelligence" so obtained? Or any intelligence from ANY source, for that matter?

No, I think the WTS is having a hard enough time spying on their factory workers at Bethel and the people in the local congregations to concern themselves with what is happening in the jungles of south east asia.

It is more likely that those headless Dubs were using Avon cosmetics as a "cover" for their "preaching" activity, as has already been noted.

But let's play with another conspiracy theory - is it possible that the headless Dubs were actually spies for some government somewhere who were using BOTH the WTS and Avon as "covers"?

This is not implausible when you consider that a Soviet government agent was able to infiltrate the WTS in the former Soviet Union and rise to high rank in Jehovah's Earthly Organization - apparently his cover was so good he decieved Jehovah's Omniscient Holy Spirit, which we all know guides and directs the appointment of everyone from Ministerial Servants on up. Uh-huh.

Perhaps the headless bodies of these faithful servants of Jah/Avon/an-unnamed-government-agency will grace an upcoming cover of the Awake! or the Avon catalog or "Soldiers Of Fortune" magazine, maybe under a title banner like "Don't Lose Your Head To Terrorism!" - something tasteful, like that.

Nathan you may have a point there about the government using 2 very common "faces" going door to door. First, who wouldn't trust someone from Avon? And second, until recently JW's were considered a nuisance but not a threat. And if the governments believe the dribble put out by the watchtower and awakes, they would believe all those rediculous personal stories where jw's have been saved by yelling out Jehovah's name or by simply stating they are jw's. Interesting line of thought that I had never thought of before.

Or the WTS could have encouraged some very naive JWs (not hard to find) to enter a situation that was frought with danger in the hopes of garnering worldwide notice and sympathy that might take the heat off of everything else that is currently happening to them.

At the very least, in the Philippines, where their growth numbers are currently among the very highest.

Every congregation has an Avon rep, usually a pioneer, and the congregation members are generally their customer base.

If a Witness is found with a large quantity of Avon branded products, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are an Avon rep themselves, it could just mean that they have a friend who is, and because they want to support them they feel obliged to buy a lot of product from them.

    Hey Folks,

by "spies" I think he means CIA or such POSING as Jehovah's Witnesses (possible) NOT JWs spying.
