THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ELDERS AND OTHERS

Elders have the right to talk to disfellowshipped ones. The average JW can't. Elders can call you for a judicial meeting and charge you with anything. You can't. Elders can justify talking about the whole congregation. If you were to do it, it would be called gossip. Elders can refer to themselves as "glorious ones". If you did, you would be spoken to regarding your lack of humility.....Any other differences that you can think of ???

Well, in medical terms - chronic delusions of grandeur, underpinned by personality disorder. In religious terms - blind yet leading the way.

They get to attend all those closed-door meetings after the service meeting. When I was a newbie, I was curious as to what those meetings were about. Towards the end, I didn't want to know...

I wondered why they could marry someone and a regular ole publisher couldn't. weren't we ministers?

and they were always the only ones that could baptize, what made them so special?

IMAN, you never had to be an elder to baptize a person.

    What makes elders different?

Most of them were ignorant arrogant axxhoxxxs, most of us are not.

Most of them enjoyed lording it over others, most of us do not.

Most of them were not forgiving or understanding, most of us are.

Most of them participated in hiding pedophiles ,most of us did not.

Most of them did not know the bible well, many of us do. Except for me.

Elders could do any number of wrongful acts of conduct, and it would be overlooked, UNLESS another elder wanted to stir the pot and have a whine about it....but if one did, they usually got a reputation for being overly righteous....and if one didn't...the body of elders were generally all doing their own thing and turning a blind eye to each others secret business.

That's my experience...there were some elders who were more arrogant then others...and there were elders who were more liberal then others...their conduct varied...depending on the nature of the travelling overseers.

At the risk of sounding redundant, the entire "elder arrangement" should be disbanded. Many of the ones who "qualified" as "elders", ones have been anointed with indescribable power, in my experience were and remain as some of the most dysfuctional groups of men to ever be bandied about.

But didn't you know that elders have more holy spirit?
