  I take exception with your statement that most elders participated in covering up pedophiles. While I agree that many elders are a-holes, I don't think most covered up this problem. Perhaps most who were involved in a case involving a sicko but I don't believe most elders ever were involved in such a case.

  Elders tell elderettes personal matters that don't concern them.I know this for a fact.If anyone else in the congo did this,they would be counseled for gossiping.

  They get invited to all the congregations social gatherings. And this includes all the weddings, whether they are close to the bride and groom or not. They decide who is socially acceptable and who isn't. An elders family have a higher social status within the congregation, and so if you befriend them you rise up the congregational ranks.

  In every case of molestation that was reported, it is reported to the elders. In every case where there are now lawsuits, the elders are named as co defendants. So if there is a coverup of any kind in a reported case it involves the elders.

  When I found out my daughter was molested "by an elder" I went to the -elders- and they finally had five women who charged this elder with some kind of sexual misconduct. When it was decided to do nothing to this elder and leave him preaching from the pulpit it was decided by the -elders-.

  When I told the -elders- that this has damaged my daughters faith in the wbts, the -elders- told me it was up to Me how my daughter viewed this. So now I am supposed to be responsible for my daughters view of the organization. Not the -elders-.

  When I began to protest to the elders about the lack of action on their part, it was the -elders- that in effect told me to shut up and be quiet about this.

  I am at a loss as to how you can come to the conclusion that the elders are not involved fully in any coverup.

  Being an elder means never having to say your sorry.

  Simply being an elder doesn't mean one is covering up pedophiles.Ultimately, the elder body might be responsible in a court of law,but that doesn't mean each elder knows about specific cases and details.
