Today I am hoping very much that your anniversary of the twin towers catastrophe and the Pentagon/Pittsburgh goes well with all of you, God forbid, anything else happening today.

In some of my posts, it would appear to some that I might have a few problems with the American people. This is not wholly true. I have always simply been very interested in issues surrounding globalisation and lets face it, you've got one bloomin great country to take an interest in, like everywhere, you've got some foreign policy that leaves a lot to be desired, but there again, you have a great deal that I admire and respect massively. The UK too is no exception to this.

The twin towers collapse obviously has left one hec of a hole in your nations psyche. Together, you are still reeling in the aftershocks of this mind bendingly terrible event, and on one level, my heart does go out to you.

Of Iraq, Crownboy came out with what I felt was the best suggestion regarding Saddam Hussein, assassination by either his own people or a crack US combined UK small crack force. As time goes by, I can feel my opinion is changing a little regarding this matter, however, still, I would like to see absolutely convincing evidence before a sound judgement can be arrived upon. I do disagree with an all out war being served on Iraq. My worry here is for the innocents of that country, surely they already have suffered enough.

If however, the terrorists were to be so stupid as to repeat their actions in any way at all, no doubt my opinion would solidify for harsh action to be aligned directly against them.

Anyway, today, of all day's, I wish everyone of you to have peace of mind and a sense of space to greive in safety. My thoughts and feelings are with you all.

    Take care.

Thank you Mark for your kind and well thought out words.

It seems to me that many people here on the forum get mad at criticisms of the US, instead of taking them for the truth they are and trying to learn from our mistakes.

Our country had a horrific blow dealt to us last year, and hopefully we can respect ALL those who died either during the attack or in later events.

For me, it was a day to finally realize that Armageddon is not coming--the JWs DO NOT have the "truth"; nor does any one group, religion, race etc.

I have greatly appreciated reading the various comments from posters who are trying to find non-violent answers to problems when necessary--because it certainly seems like violence begets violence.

Thanks Mark: The attack on the twin towers was not just an attack on the USA, but on the scores nations who had citizens and subjects working there. The Twin Towers symbolize to the terrorists all that they hate of the western world. Today is a commemoration not of just what affected the USA, but of the civilized world.

I do not see action against Iraq as more war mongering, or as a violent response. It is a police action to take out a criminal who is too dangerous to run a country, much less possess nuclear or chemical or biological weapons. I want the USA/UK to do this without hurting innocent people ... I hope there is a way. - Thanks again Mark for the thoughtful message to Americans.

Becky: As for criticisms of the USA, Americans can handle it. Such criticism are taken as fair and needed part of debate. It is when the criticisms impute bad motives, or categorically blame ALL USA citizens for holding the same view and supporting bad policies. Such criticism then turns from being constructive to destructive and vindictive, and it loses any credibility it may have had. It is at that point I jump in, because I dislike stereo-typing of any group ... especially a whole nation made up of over 280,000,000 very different and diverse people.

I appreciate your point about realizing Armageddon is not coming. The WTS loves to use such events and the normal fear they incite ... they capitalize on this for their own gain. And as an ex-JW I share with you in the freedom to face such events, and know that our spiritual and emotional lives can no longer be taken advantage of and manipulated by the WTS ... in the word of Martin Luthor King, jr. "Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty we are free at last.

I know it is a long shot, but would you happen to be kin to the Jane and Jack Price that used to live in Louth, Lincolnshire?

So, one tragedy is not enough? You need another terror attack to achieve righteous indignation?

People, we need to take care of business, not wait for it to take care of itself.

Thank you for you words of compasion and understanding towards this day - Last year I sat in horor andwatched as the towers fell to earth. Then I heard that yet another plane hd hit the Pentagon.

I thought - oh my - I live in between those two sites. My fears were realized when the 4th plane went down in Sommerset County Pa - only 2 hours from me.

I do realize how this has effected us in the USA, and I appreciate the feelings of the world - this was not a lone attack on the US - it attacked all th other countries too - by taking out not only US Citizins - but those of many other countrys too.

Today we face a world that is in turmoil with what to do with Terrorists.

I applaude the US and UK in their efforts to work to the riddence of Sudam. I too hope that this may be done with little cost to the people of Iran who haved lived under the Horrble Leadership.

May God Bless those who have dealt and are still dealing with the effects of this day.

    Peace to all..

I'm with you TR. It will be taken care of regardless of public opinion anyway.

I just came back from the highschool. We emptied out all the classes and assembled in front of the flag pole and had a little ceremony. The grade school walked over and participated. We are 3000 miles away yet it has affected everyone here.

But no one is hanging their heads. No one feels like a hostage. It is business as usual here. Several highschool seniors have done the early enlistment thing with the idea of fighting terrorism. As Americans we do feel responsible for policing the planet. Maybe down the road it will become another nations job, but it's our job now sadly. Thankfully we aren't alone as our allies are standing beside us on this issue.

    Celtic,

This is a strange day for me. It is the anniversary of 911 and also the anniversary of my first husband's suicide in 1984. So, this has always been a time of reflection for me. Just can't seem to get away from it.

The sky is blue, with puffy white clouds, and the wind is gusting at times around 28mph. It is warm. I can hear some children with their parents as they walk near our building outside. I like to hear those sounds. There are so many children without a parent or parent(s) today as a result of violent activities.

I remember everything as if it just happened today, and there is a tugging in my gut. Thank you for your kind support. We are all human beings trying to find our way. Unfortunately, there are some who don't play the game the respectable way. They are the fanatics. It's difficult to fight such an enemy.

I also see the WTBTS as a group of fanatics. Power and control at any price. Makes me wonder what such organizations are really capable of.

    Love and Light,

A couple of FACTS people seem to have forgotten re: Iraq..

In 1991, after being soundly defeated in the Gulf War, part of the treaty that Iraq signed, but haven't lived up to, is having UN inspectors of their Nulclear capabilities. The inspectors were kicked out years ago, yet the UN does NOTHING to make Iraq live up to their agreement.

In 1993, two years after the Gulf War, the Twin Towers were attacked with a massive underground bomb...people were killed. Of the people caught, tried and convicted was an Iraq agent. hmmmm

Now, inspectors haven't been able to do their job and try to keep the world safe. Gee, I wonder, could that be that Saddam is about to have THE BOMB...how fun for everyone in the Free World. Why don't we just sit around and do nothing and see if he uses it or not, after all we wouldn't want to make a murderer mad.
