if people would heed christ words, and God words, and pay attention then the sorrow will decrease and joyful times will increase......

Go ahead and knock on the doors of the widows, widowers, mothers, fathers, children, uncles, aunts, and dear friends of those who lost loved ones on 9/11 and see how your message of God, and "Get Over it" works out.

I sincerly believe your preaching strategy needs work. If you're trying to bring comfort you're lacking in a big way buddy. Temper your words with tact.

John 11:30: Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was in the place where Martha met him.
John 11:31: Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb to weep there."
John 11:32: Therefore when Mary came to where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to him, "Lord, if You would have been here, my brother wouldn't have died."
John 11:33: When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping who came with her, He groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
John 11:34: and said, "Where have you laid him?" They told Him, "Lord, come and see."
    John 11:35: Jesus wept.
John 11:36: The Jews therefore said, "See how much affection He had for him!"

Luke 19:41: When He drew near, He saw the City and wept over it,
Luke 19:42: saying, "If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
Luke 19:43: For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
Luke 19:44: and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn't know the time of your visitation."

Romans 12:15: Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

Acts 20:18: When they had come to him, he said to them, "You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,
Acts 20:19: serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews

Jeremiah 9:1: Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Genesis 23:2: Sarah died in Kiriath Arba (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

1st Thessalonians 4:13: But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep (in death), so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
1st Thessalonians 4:14: For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so those who have fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
1st Thessalonians 4:15: For this we tell you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
1st Thessalonians 4:16: For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
1st Thessalonians 4:17: then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
1st Thessalonians 4:18: Therefore comfort one another with these Words.

Where it says "so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope", it means don't be extremely devastated like the others who do not believe in God and Christ, because you will see them again in the Resurrection, however, if you look at all of the above Scriptures, it is obvious that it is very Christian to weep for others.

    I have a question.

I have not read the Koran.

Does it teach that you should love your neighbor as yourself and that you should do to others what you want them to do to you, and does it teach that you should love your ENEMIES?

    I'm just curious.

I know I will catch some heat for this, but I have to say it:

Yes, I grieve and am horrored by the events of September 11. I am sad, and angry, and hurt, all at the same time. It has marked me forever, as it will.

BUT.... it has to be put into perspective:

More people are killed *EACH MONTH* in the USA in motor vehicle collisions.

American efforts to protect their citizens would be better first spent on preventing that ongoing, constant tragedy. But no one seems to care. It is easier to respond to the enemy overseas (Al Queda) than it is to work on themselves.

Yes you are going to catch heat for this...this has nothing to do with 9/11. Being attacked is a little bit different than dying in a car accident. Death happens. This we know, but to bring politics into this which is a day of rememberence for a tragic loss, on a MASSIVE scale is tacky. Today I didn't want to think about the war on terrorism, or Osma Bin Laden. I wanted to think about the people...PEOPLE who were lost, and who survived. This has nothing to do with blame and everything to do with healing.

The people that died on 9/11 were killed by a direct act of religious fanatics. Though the sorrow and pain of losing anyone is the same no matter what the circumstances, there is a difference between accidental deaths caused by motor vehicle collisions and intentional deaths in the name of religion.

    To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

    To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

    To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

    To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

As am American, my grief is for more than the lives and families that were torn apart. I also grieve for the security we once took for granted, for the personal freedoms we will all have to sacrifice in the name of defense, and for the lives we once lived. America will never be the same.

I believe that in some ways we are better now - more people are paying attention to international affairs - to the plight of other nations and people - and are coming together in support of one another. But we will never again live with the peace and freedoms we once thought we had.

One thing that has changed for me is my patriotism. Being raised as a JW I was, of course, NEVER patriotic. I only heard about the "rotten governments", how they're all "liars, cheaters" etc - how we couldn't wait until this rotten system was destroyed at Armageddon. Having been raised that way I didn't pay much attention to world affairs, politics, or anything like that.

After 9/11 I started to really listen up - I started learning what my life would have been like had I been born under the Taliban, or in China, or any number of non-democratic societies. I have taken for granted the freedoms here and never appreciated before the sacrifices made to protect those freedoms. Today I am very proud of our country, and I am thankful for our allies rushed to our side to help protect us.

On a side note - 1 Timothy 2:1-2 "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness" - why is it that JW's NEVER pray for their political leaders? Seems to me that it's encouraged quite strongly here in the bible....hmm........
