Perhaps you need a little taste of what life in Tartarus is like.

Fin ally someone with some sense in these forums.

    I beg to differ.

Welcome back, mindfield! How was summer camp?

(Aaaaah, the good ol' days of hijacking threads...)

Thanx SS, it was an excellent summer, all in all. Sure, there were some idiots (talking about 2 of the other monitors, of course... not the children. Never the children...) amongst them (don't look at me... ), but nothing a thick skin can't handle. Actually, I've been back a long time ago, but I've been only lurking these days, nothing more. Hopefully I'll be able to get my "groove" back soon. See you around!

Tartarus....ah, yes. I like it, but it can sometimes be overdone. My husband always asks for extra whenever he gets fish and chips at the local restaurant. Personally, I think that too much of the stuff just hides the flavor of the fish.

    Oh, well....to each his own.

Redhorse, couldn't be said better. Tartarus is excellent, but in doses. Here's a recipe I found:

That's for you, Ozzie. May the gods frown down upon you, your children, your grandchildren, and your grandchildren's children... for 3 months! Muahahaha...

    Yadirf,

Aren't you missing something vital here? The NT is full of statements about resurrection to heaven; Paul yearned to be there with his Lord, so to discount that is to ignore Scripture.

BTW Mrs Ozzie and I have already and continue to experience a hell on earth made by the Borg, but thank you for your "good" wishes!

I'm hardly the one ignoring Scripture here, since it's you that has ignored the scriptural FACTS that I mentioned in my last post. But, unlike you, I won't ignore what you've brought up. Of course the NT speaks of those that take up an heavenly existence for a time. The thing is, those relatively few who do go to heaven (of which Paul is of that number) do so for a reason, and when the purpose for which they take up heavenly life has been accomplished they will then resume life back here on earth, hence returning to their original abode. It will be for them like it was for Jesus, except in reverse fashion. Jesus himself had an earthly existence for a time, but it wasn't to be permanent. After he accomplished the purpose for which he came to earth he returned to the realm from whence he came. Jesus was first created as being a spirit creature, and now he is a spirit creature again. In the same way those ones who do wind up going to heaven from earth, having been fleshly creatures to begin with they are destined to return to their original, fleshly state. Which is actually the point of Revelation 21:2, the New Jerusalem spoken of there being the entire complement of persons who had gone to heaven to rule with Christ ... and at that point in time (the thousand years are over) they are seen to be returning to earth, "coming down OUT of heaven" as it were.

Obviously the WTS also has a lesson in store for them here, since up to this very moment it is taught by them that those who go to heaven are to remain there permanently -- which is NOT true.

Not at all, but some of us have a life, Yadirf! So we don't live attached to our keyboards as if they are our umbilicals.

Having said that, I'm back, but briefly! Now, much of what you say is actually Christian teaching. Did you realise that? The matter of going to heaven and what/where is understood quite differently in evangelical churches to what the Borg asserts the churches teach, especially the matter of New Jerusalem coming down (uniting) with the earth. Remember there will be a "new heavens and a new earth"?

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that the apostle Paul had a pre-human existence but perhaps I've misunderstood you.

On the matter of the earthly hope, I will say this: For many years as a Dub, I had a niggling concern about the lack of NT texts discussing it. It troubled me during my field service times because I knew that if it came up at the doors I would have to bluff my way through, a la the Reasoning Book. That concerned me. Now, of course, it doesn't, for I have a belief based wholly on scripture.

    Cheers, Ozzie

Holy Crap Mindfield !!.... thank Gawd youre back. This place went to hell in a handbasket while you were gone. Restore some order willya!? Say something witty, funny, ...the board needs it.

I think THIS is what Yadirf refers to as "scriptural facts".....

"To think, as Christendom does in general, that "Heaven" is to become the new, permanent residence of humans is ridiculous beyond words. Indeed, it takes somewhat of a warped mind to even conceive of such a thing."

Great scripture quotation there bro. Love ya. Hey man, you obviously concieved of the thought otherwise you couldnta responded. Guess that meand you got a warped, twisted, demon infested mind there huh?
