Does mental illness and/or depression cause excessive sexual stimulation? Just wondering.

Ummmm....no?
What on earth brought that up?
(I actually hope there is a legitimate reason for your question - otherwise, you might be seen as stirring up trouble and getting your post nuked)

Sex drive is a natural form of pleasure, thus when we are depressed we sometimes seek the easy solution. Which often gets us into deeper trouble.

Cause? No
but....
the endorphins released during sexual stimulation can ease depression
NOTE: This is NOT a cure for depression

I can't believe I just posted to this question

Yeah, but for guys at least, you rather need to be 'really in the mood', as it were, to even be ABLE to participate, and I just can't see that happening if you are feeling depressed.
I honestly don't know about mental illness - that just seems a weird question?

Everyone is different, depression does not always lower the sex drive. Some people find depression to be a turn on ... you can not define anything globally.

You mean, like, being depressed as a turn on? Hmmm....don't really see that.
A gloomy outlook can sometimes be a turn on. (Which reminds me....any goth chicks here? )
But I don't think a negative attitude severe enough to be classified as 'depression' could turn anyone on:
A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death

like drugs and drinking, sex can be used as an escape by a depressed person. you lose yourself in it and forget your troubles for awhile....

Depression can be a major turn on. That's why "goth" chicks are so hot.
