Could you believe that they wrote that in their letter to the society, blame everyone else but the abuser.

Unfortunately, I'm beginning NOT to be shocked by A-N-Y-thing the elders or the Society do. It's such an archaic old boy's club! I am glad that Walker's close affiliation with Bethel was revealed. Jehovah is, after all, the "Revealer of Secrets"! LOL

I have to admit that at the beginning of the trial, I wondered if the WTS and the elders would end up smelling like a rose, coming across as concerned, spiritual, moral and highly-principled men whose only concern was doing all possible to help Vicki.

But from the couple of days I've been able to see them in action and read these added details, they are far from smelling like a rose. In fact, they don't smell very good at all.

It is really satisfying to see the the horribly demeaning tactics they use against women being exposed, along with the way they hide facts or attempt to gloss them over to cover the ugliness of their attitudes.

Like 'needs_lots' says, they have made it crystal clear that they blame everyone else BUT the abuser and their primary concerns have proved to be "save the sinner" and "protect the image of the congregation and the WTS".

It is no wonder that elders have been resigning their positions in droves. Now we just need the rest of the r&f to be able to put 2+2 together and actually get the right answer...and not the "new math" LOL

Odd that you should mention that...someone told me in conversation this week that one of your aunt's once made the comment that if a man turned to his daughter that it was for that very reason, because the wife wasn't doing her job! This someone about passed out right there. Couldn't believe it!

    .

It was explained that it meant"they asked Vicki's mother if she was giving her husband enough sex" that perhaps that was why he had went to his daughter.

Even after growing up in this religion for thirty years, I still had to pick my lower jaw off the keyboard when reading that. And they put it in writing too.

Several times during the trial sessions that I've seen, I've wondered just what the Superior Court Judge must be thinking when she hears all this. "Punishing" molestors by taking away their microphone "priveleges"; categorising sexual behaviour depending on trivial details; taking the word of a molestor who consistently minimised his behaviour that he would report himself to authorities; duplicitously concealing sources of information and trial witness histories; wondering if "not getting enough" would make a father sexually abuse his own daughter; destroying notes of judicial meetings; the list goes on and on of the sheer incompetence, arrogance and stupidity of these elders and the religion that dictates their behaviour.

I'm an xjw and yet even I was embarassed in that courtroom. How the smug jw's can sit there without dissolving in shame I cannot fathom.

I hope that they get well and truly hung.

Wow, too bad I wasn't there this week. Sounds like I missed a few pivotal moments.

I don't know if I will be able to get to any this week at all -- Thursday is OUT and Friday is 50/50.

We're all pulling for you Vicki, you nail those creeps for their incompetence and make them pay for it!

No quotes, you have NOT missed the pivotal moments of the trial.

The key parts of the trial is that the plantiff had to establish "rapes" occurred (done), she couldn't go to the authorities, a "special relationship existed" between an elder and a regular JW that required the JW to go to the elder. That the elder delayed reporting the abuse in violation of s. 72 of the Act and that the elders made Vicki attend a confrontation.

I guess you did miss the "shrink" testify on Tuesday. He established that Vicki was re-raped at the controntation. That is huge Quotes .... huge!!!!

All of this key evidence is in.

Now the court is watching evidence come in that bolsters her case thanks to the defence.

As I have said before - this is a tough case to win and I am not getting my hopes up yet. The judge has to establish that a voluntary religious corporation had a duty to Vicki and wronged her by making her do this confrontation instead of letting the authorities handle it. Will it work? I just don't know. Its looking much better than it did and they have to live with the fact that its ALL out in the public.

p.s. - Thanks for the update Vicki. You should see her in court folks. Here are 8 or so lawyers working for the defence and a whole bunch of JWs from the Shelburne Congregation as well as the Georgetown Bethal. She is soooo strong and confident. Sitting there day after day working hard with her lawyer and husband .... unbelievable.

Thanks Hawk, you are correct. What I meant to say is I missed the opportunity to see the Justice ROLL HER EYES at some of the things coming from defence.

It also sounds like (I'm only going by the reports posted here) Mr. Mark has suckered us all in (including the defence) and now that he is in cross-exam mode, he is firing on all cylinders. I really want to be there to see this.
