Larc,
As you know, everyone's story is different but one constant is that those who leave do so when they begin to think for themselves -- what the Watchtower calls "independent thinking"(size=9)TM(/size). It also involves a recapturing a suspension of disbelief. By that I mean, we all eventually stop seeing total truth in what the Organization tells us and allow ourselves to question what we hear and read.
As we've all discovered, there are plenty reasons to question nearly every one of the Society's positions... even if it's simply on the basis of common sense. The Watchtower's authority *really* begins to crumble when we view it's teachings through the eyes of more scholarly works and when we consider the rather shady history of the organization itself. Knowing the characters of those who founded and perpetuated the organization doesn't do much to bolster confidence, either.
It all starts, tough, when people decide to start thinking.
p.s. Can't you just feel the love between OUTLAW and Friday? Hooo-weee!!!
