Lets quote it accurately. The article is discussing Humility and the context is about a knowlege of ancient Biblical languages. The article says;-
" Furthermore pride in having linguistic ability can cause one to lose a trait that is essential to all true Christians - teachableness"

It figures: more dumbing down!!!
"Be all that you can be" still beats "be stupid and keep smiling".

It really means that if you are too proficient in the languages of the Bible, we won't be able to fool you with our shoddy translation and so it won't be so easy to get you to accept our highly questionable teachings.

OK, I can read between the lines, why is the Watchtower now against people knowing Biblical languages? --VM44

It looks as if it isn't against know the language, but the pride and haughtiness that some people have. Not that I agree with the Witchtower or anything, just don't wanna be as bad as them and misquote them and stuff.

A typical ploy the WT writers use when they want to rant against something is to talk about all the bad things that result from it.
I get the impression that the writer of the article is not impressed with anyone knowing Biblical languages unless that person also agrees with everything the WT teaches. If that person points out anything that might be wrong with what the WT writes, then that person becomes "unteachable"
How did "knowing Biblical languages" come up in an article about humility anyway?
Think someone at Bethel got whooped in a conversation with a Bible language expert? Hence the need to point out the "non-teachableness" of those language experts! --VM44

Sounds like "MOM" is trying to pull out the rug from under her babies for going to University and studying upbuilding things like Ancient Greek and Hebrew so they can have a better understanding of the scriptures..... thinking that it will give them a good job AND better opportunities to be effective pioneers and ministers in the future....
MOM doesn't like it AT ALL when her kids realize things like: "Hey wait a minute, there isn't supposed to be a comma after today.... if it's there at all, it's supposed to be before today!"
So instead of MOM admitting that she isn't "all that", MOM throws some weight around and tells the kids that they mustn't become "show-offs" with their new skills and knowledge, because it's gonna make HER look bad to the other kids.
Pretty soon MOM is going to again discourage University education entirely, and especially higher learning in religious studies!!
