Demon at My Daughters House

    Hi All,

My grandson's wife is staying at my daughters with her newborn son(my great grandson). They have a room in the basement. Last night she said something was holding her in the bed and wouldn't let her go to her new baby. She swore she wasn't asleep. My daughter has seen some strange things too. The daughter-in-law won't stay in that room again.

What do you think is happening? My friend who was never a JW want's me and him to go sleep in the room to see if we see anything strange. I don't believe in demons so it might be an interesting adventure. What do you think is happening? They might have a smurf up there!

Have a look at: http://www.csicop.org/si/9805/abduction.html and substitute "demon" for "alien"

    Here is a sample:

Imagine the following scenario: A woman wakes in the night with a strong sense that someone or something is in the room. She tries to move but finds she is completely paralyzed except for her eyes. She sees strange lights, hears a buzzing or humming sound, and feels a vibration in the bed. If she knows about sleep paralysis, she will recognize it instantly, but most people do not. So what is she going to think? I suggest that, if she has watched TV programs about abductions or read about them, she may begin to think of aliens. And in this borderline sleep state, the imagined alien will seem extremely real. This alone may be enough to create the conviction of having been abducted. Hypnosis could make the memories of this real experience (but not real abduction) completely convincing.

Maybe she just doesn't like sleeping in the basement and doesn't want to say so without seeming selfish.

I wonder what her background is? I found that many Hispanic JWs and/or other people tend to me more "in tune" with spiritistic phenomenon.

Has anybody else seen/felt any manifestations? Has she had this happen other places? If answers are no/yes, she might be the problem.

    Hi Blondie,

It is a nice room, with carpet, closets and a bathroom near by. I think she liked the room. I don't think she ever had seen anything like this. I haven't talked to her yet, but I will tomorrow and ask some questions. I'll probably spend the night there. I'll let you know what happens.

Undecided, if we don't here from you, can we assume that you've been whisked away?

I don't know about demons - but I do vaguely recall there is a medical condition that causes this - I think it has something to do with the nervous system....it should be looked into.

Do not know how much actual "demonic" stuff is out there. I have seen a ghost on many occasions, however no harm was done to me.

For one to do something as posted above, I find that odd, but who knows? There probably is a much more simple explanation.

    Sleep paralysis.

If you believe demons hold you down in your bed and make you immobile, the mind and body will follow suit to provide that experience for you. However, these demon experiences never happen to those who don't believe in them.

    Think about it.

Sounds like a hynogogic hallucination that included sleep paralysis. It can happen to anybody. Tell her not to worry.

    Love,
