All phenomena are impermanent. That is the law of space and time. To find what is permanent you must observe the source of all phenomena which means you must observe your own mind. That which is permanent rests within you but it is obscured by the mind's erroneous understanding of the nature of phenomena. This is not about "Belief" which is a product of thinking. This is about direct "knowing".( which is the only way to peace).

I'm going to try and find something good tomorrow and dwell on that.(((((((((((((((((((((((((((UNDECIDED))))))))))))))))))))))))

That's good advice for yourself. Heck, it's downright biblical. Keep your mind on what is good and pure and noble. Paul said it. Kewl Love, Dj

Ken, I have "known" you for quite some time, and it seems like every time I address one of your posts I am complimenting you, or empathizing with you. Well, it's true this time around as well. Your posts always keep me thinking, and remembering what is important in life. You're a good egg, old pal.

Sidd is right. You mustn't take life too seriously. It won't last. Try this:

Find a quiet place and sit well back in a straight back chair. Both feet on the floor.

Close your eyes and begin to relax. Become very aware of your breath

Let your inhalation flow into your exhalation and vice versa. Notice how cool you inhalation is and how warm your exhaltion is.

If your mind wanders, bring it back to your breath. If it helps, repeat to yourself over and over, "I am created in the image and likeness of God". Do this for about 10 minutes. You'll feel a lot better.

People who cannot enjoy a Saturday afternoon at the park would not be happy, if they were forced to live forever in heaven, or endure a hundred lifetimes in a paradise. The past is history, the future is unknown. all we have_ is today,_this day_ one day at a time. That's why it is called the Present. It's a gift. Life is a gift. and Ken "Life is as good as you let it be"

I think my problem is that my life has been so great so far that the realization that it will end shortly is so disappointing and I don't want to face the down side of old age and death.

I would agree with Navigator's therapeutic method to calm one's self, but only add that a Belvedere or Tanqueray martini goes well before or after meditation.
