    Venice,

It is signifcant to me because (a) the Watchtower association is a religious institution and follows the Bible's stated principles and (b) Bill Bowen has both used scriptures to chastise the Watchtower and has made use of the term "Christian" to instigate Watchtower leaders.

Whoa! I just read the date you claim this sob was involved in criminal activity, as a jw.

    THE SEVENTIES???????

And YOU still have not reported, or MADE AWARE! to ANYONE, his name and criminal activity?

    Holy Shit!

Ok, I am about to 'explode' and when I do...there will be alot of 'fallout'.

I am for SOLID TRUTH, not fabrications.

The SOLID TRUTH will prevail. And it won't be by 'god'.

    So what is your point????

I still don't get it. I say Beat WTS at their own game, their policy can be condemed through use of the Bible. IT doesn't matter if the person bringing the argument belives the bible or not, just as long as those it's being used on do.

I would not reveal my personaly beliefs if I were in involved in something this major.

Venice, I see how using someone's own textbook against them could be useful. However, Bill has never commented on the scriptural veracity of the two witnesses rule, as far as I know. And the Bible DOES SAY do not take a brother to court. I simply believe that if he is indeed not a Bible believer, he should either condemn the WTS for following the Bible, or leave the Bible and Christianity out of it and concentrate on other matters. And if he is a Bible believer, then I want to know what his real criticisms are based upon the WTS' _current_ policy, which is that nobody is to be prevented or discouraged from reporting suspected abusers to the authorities, and that elders have an obligation to investigate internally.

Hi every one I wrote to Bill & asked if he still believed the Watchtower Doctrine. he replied "IT IS A CULT"

That was his answer. I am not interested in" he said -she said-they said" just the FACTS that is all

That is not what he said on Date Line.

On Date Line he said he had absolutely NO problem with the religion or the people what so ever and only wanted the GB to change their policy on reporting child abuse. He said he was a JW until he was excomunicated.

That is not what he said on Date Line.

You have to remember that Dateline was filmed more than a year before it aired. I personally know that Bill had a major change of belief during the intervening time. He didn't lie on Dateline.

Speaking from a business standpoint, you sometimes have to go along with what you know your customer believes in, to make a sale, and to keep an ongoing relationship with them. I for one, hate all religion, but I have many customers who are devoted, church going Christians. How would it be, for my business, if I were to volunteer that I don't believe in going to Church and that I doubt the Bible? So I shut up, unless they ask. Then I say I am a Christian but don't attend a church at this time. Not a lie, is it? Even if it were a lie, sometimes in work situations, you make a decision to keep peace.

    roybatty,

I take issue with Bill using the Bible to defend his actions, but never responding to questions about what he believes regarding the Bible, and particularly the scriptural basis for the two witnesses principle. Bill wants to portray himself as a Christian, he asks that the GB act in a "Christian" manner, and I have serious doubts that he cares at all about Christianity or the Bible.

    Cyg,

I have to say that I agree with Venice's comments, I just don't get it. Asking someone to define what a "Christian" is most difficult. A million JWs would consider themselves Christian and all of us as not being Christian. Anyway, I guess I just don't know what the big fight is about.

From what I understand Bill said some bad things about Ray. Is that correct? Heck, let Ray defend himself. And if bill has made an apology, sheesh, accept it.

Why do people enjoy tearing other people apart so much?

    roybatty,

It is about credibility. I don't know Bill Bowen from John Ashcroft. If he is going to say certain things about certain people and yet maintain a complete silence on critical, sensitive issues, then why should I believe anything he says, and why should I lend any support to his organization at all?

I am all for WTS leaders getting beat over the head, but it has to be done right, and without looking like complete fools.
