    Hi Jurs,

    :"She's a strict Mormon"

    Bwahahahaha!!!!

The Mormons have no more of a clue than do the JWs...

Aside from the doctrinal differences, the "We are the ONLY ONES with the truth" mindset make them pretty much interchangeable. You should go to a Mormon/ex-Mormon (LDS) discussion board and see how eerily similar these two cults are.

Jig, She learned this on a tour from a tour guide. It wasn't Morman info. She didn't know this until she was on her trip and found it interesting cuz she never knew it either. Sheesh..... Its really hard to believe that you guys once accepted wacky beliefs about the annointed but don't believe people made caves into homes where it would be much cooler. Do you know how hot it gets there???jurs

    Sorry Jurs,

Yeah, I can believe that some of those folks lived in caves. Wood was probably at a premium due to the fact there's not a whole lot of bush in that part of the world...

It just struck me funny how you said your friend was a "strict Mormon" - in my mind that would be a liability in the credibility dept. lol

    Thank you Jurs.

Particularly applicable to this discussion is the following from the above tour: "During our trip in every place--Nazareth, Ein Karem, Bethlehem we saw grottos. This 'cave life' puzzles the people, who do not know the landscape of the Holy Land. In the Holy Land we show the pilgrims the man-made caves. These are what is left from the service rooms of the houses.... The excavations in Jerusalem, Capernaum, Korazine (both of the palaces and houses of common people) show that the living rooms were built over the 'basements'--caves quarried in soft limestone. Not only food storages, but also rooms for cattle and sheep were under the earth. The houses of the poor also had living rooms in the 'basements.' "

Keeping this in mind, look at the next photo.

Well, to say that people dug basements if far different than saying that they lived in caves. So jurs, I am a pain in the ass, because I ask legitimate questions, well exuse me. The only people that lived in caves were the Essens and people like them who were rebels and outlaws. Now, as far as tourists go, I went on a tour in Savannah Georgia and the tour guide told us why the city was not destroyed in Sherman's march to the sea. Of course, her story was absolutely wrong.

    Larc,

Did you go to any of these websites? It doesn't seem like it because they did live in caves. Also I said you were a pain in the ass but I changed my mind. Your just simply an ass. And a pompous one.... jurs.

    Jures,

I went to one website, and read the statement about caves, but it was just a statement without references or proof. I have read about the subject of life at that time, and I have watched a number of educational programs about the life and times of Jesus and times before him. Yes, a few people may have lived in caves like the Essens (Do you know who they are and their contribution for us today?). I have never seen any information in all the many sources that I have read or viewed that presented the idea that you are promoting. As I said before, yes, a few people may have lived in caves, but the majority of people lived in houses, as has been determined by archeological excavations. So, I am an ass for having thoughts, opinions, and information. Well, so be it.
