The problem with that guy was that he was rather tactless. He may have honestly thought the dress made his wife's bum look big, but he didn't need to say it in front of all her friends. He should have said it in a different way, when the two of them were alone. It seems they were having marital problems anyway, and this small comment was probably just the tip of the iceberg.

Beck - I caught it so nothing got wrecked!!!! (rhonda punching beck's hubby in tummy as she would her own while saying "A**!) I wish there was a college course for "tact" in college for men! Wonder if they know what "they" would truly look like if it weren't for us "tactful" ladies.
And snoozy - I'm not necessarily "backing down" from kenpo - he has his opinion, I have mine. I'll leave it at that as I think everyone can learn something from practically everyone. It sounds like it got really ugly over there after I left early this year, and for that I'm truly sorry. Its such a wonderful place to be.....but I guess even paradise can have its problems.
But I would also agree with this....to just heave out accusations w/out proof isn't fair, nor is it right. I think everyone can agree with this.

The man's comment to his wife was totally out of line. There was no reason for him to ever say it made her butt look big and here's why. SHE didn't pick out the dress, it was a bridesmaid's dress, obviously already paid for and to be worn on one occasion. There was nothing she could do about it and now she has to wear it in a wedding and feel self conscious about it. You can't feel good about what you are wearing after a comment like that. He deserved a smack up alongside the head for that one. Glad to hear she is with someone who treats her better.
Beck, I'm just shaking my head over that one. I'm glad you were able to give him the well deserved smack. Hope his timing improves!

Hempweaver, I think if the husband waited until later, when they were alone, to tell her that the dress wasn't becoming, maybe that would have been slightly better. Her feelings would have still been hurt, but she wouldn't have been embarrassed in front of her friends. If they had a close relationship, she would have been able to deal with his criticism. He wasn't saying that she had a big butt, he was saying that the dress made her butt look big. I think that this marriage was probably on the rocks long before this incident. You gotta love the Bible when you read stuff like, "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."
Well, I just read Prisca's post and see that I said the same thing. Sorry Prisc. Looks like we agree on a lot of things! hahahaha

I must have really struck a cord with something I said to make YOU so spiteful! Just like Jan did about you hitting someone! I though if you have Karate training you are taught to control yourself..not hit people!..Now to cover for yourself you are talking about how you "Love" your family and friends!..I can see right through you!
