he lives in a basement?
Nilfun,
good thinking, but there is a more definite reason...
You folks are sharp!
Here's another (I'll save the hard ones for later):
You have three boxes. One box contains two white socks. Another, two black socks. A third, one white and one black sock. Each box is labeled with one of those combinations, but all boxes are labeled incorrectly. You cannot see the socks in the boxes, and you may reach into one or more boxes to look at either or both of the socks in a box. What is the least number of SOCKS you much see to be able to label the boxes correctly? Explain your answer.
This is a basic logic puzzle.
Speaking of logic, is this syllogism logical? If not, why not?
All Banks are Financial Institutions. (true)
Bank of America is a Financial Institution (true)
Therefore, Bank of America is a Bank (true)

BTW, Nilfun,
Hello!
: A man always takes the lift (elevator) when he wants to go out of his apartment block, but has to take the stairs to get home. Why?
He's a dwarf and can't reach the elevator buttons for the highest floors?

Least? ... One!
Explanation. The least that you could do is open the box with the B & W socks in.
Spanner.
Next!
Nilfun, good thinking
Spanner, you are a kind soul. I took a class called "Logic and Critical Thinking" once. Sweated bullets during class participation time. Was hopelessly lost.
<----wonders how to change that from an "embarrassed half-smile" to an "embarrassed frown".
The least number is still one!
See the white one - Bingo!
ok - what about this one:
