You have three boxes. One box contains two white socks. Another, two black socks. A third, one white and one black sock. Each box is labeled with one of those combinations, but all boxes are labeled incorrectly. You cannot see the socks in the boxes, and you may reach into one or more boxes to look at either or both of the socks in a box. What is the least number of SOCKS you much see to be able to label the boxes correctly? Explain your answer.
You pick a box and both sock are black, but it's labeled white. Since we know that all of the labels are messed up, that means these two boxes can't simply switch colors. The box labeled black would then have to take the colors of the box labeled b & W and the white lable would go on that box.
Speaking of logic, is this syllogism logical? If not, why not?
All Banks are Financial Institutions. (true)
Bank of America is a Financial Institution (true)
Therefore, Bank of America is a Bank (true)Even though you can probably assume that Bank of America is a bank because of it's name, the syllogism doesn't prove that. Therefore, it isn't "therefore". The third statement is false.

Hey, wife, that one is a case of reversed logic. All banks are financial institutions, but maybe all financial institutions are not banks. Swap out "banks" with "cats" and "financial institutions" with "animals" to see a better example.
All cats are animals.
A horse is an animal.

Therefore, a horse is a cat.In my example, both assertions and the conclusion is true. In your example, the conclusion is false, but you still are right in your explanation. In fact, your arguments very well illustrates the flaw in the argument. Mine is a bit more deceptive, but both arguments are still false.
For other readers:
For an argument to be logical and assuming the premises to be true, the conclusion MUST follow from the premises. Science does this all the time, and that's how scientific advancement is made. It may later be discovered that the premises put forward were NOT true, even though the conclusion naturally followed from them. In this case, the argument is still logical, but not sound.
This is why science and religion will always be at loggerheads. Religion, by its very nature can not be and is not logical. It's based upon superstition, myth and faith. When one has those elements, facts are not needed and definitely not wanted if they contradict the superstitions and myths.
Scientists typically question everything and are willing to drop any current theories they have if facts and logic favor newer, better ones. Religionists, on the other hand are unwilling to change any of their beliefs, facts-be-damned.
Those of you who think facts and logic are not relevant in your life should ask yourselves these questions:
Who has contributed more to the education of the masses: scientists or religionists?
How many wars were started by scientists? How many people were tortured and murdered by scientists because people did not agree with them?
Is Al-Qada and the Taliban run by scientists or religionists? How about the Palistinian Hamas and other terrorists? Sean Fenn? How about the Watchtower Corporation? Who wants more people killed: Al-Qada, Taliban, Hamas, Sean Fenn or the Watchtower Corporation?
Who has given more positive benefit to life and living in the world overall: scientists or religionists?
Logic IS important. Lack of it IS dangerous.

This logic puzzle took me several hours to figure out. All the necessary clues are here to solve it.
Heres the deal: A card dealer has shuffled the jacks, queens, kings and aces of every suite in a deck and dealt them face up on a table, four cards in each row and column in the order shown. From the following clues, can you correctly locate each card? (Row denotes horizontal, column denotes vertical.)
Cards:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
9 10 11 12
13 14 15 16
Clues:
- All of the aces are on the periphery of the arrangement
- The four corner cards, in no particular order are: the jack of hearts, the jack of clubs, the queen of diamonds, the ace of clubs
- Each row and each column includes one card of each suite
- Each column includes one of each face card and an ace
- The second row has no aces in it
- The first card dealt was a club
- The queen of diamonds is not in the first row
- Card #12 is not a diamond
- Card #2 is not a spade
- The king of clubs was dealt after the queen of clubs
