Only way to take down the tower.....

is to act together as a united group. I know to many of us that smacks of JWism but it's not really, it's just common sense.

Take for example the Colonial world in North America prior to the Revolution. There were thirteen colonies, each with their own problems, their own goals and needs. Individually they could not act effectively against King George but acting as a group they could and did. What was necessary though was to find a way to act with a united voice even though their interests were not.

We must do the same. The only way is to form an alliance between us, between the atheists and the believers in God, an alliance between many of those who do not post here but do post on Ros' board and attend the BCRI conferences etc. An alliance between the "Godfathers" of the xJW internet world such as Kent, Simon, Rick, Dogpatch and the many others who have productive sites. An alliance between the people here who are at different poles.

I believe it is possible. I also believe that if it succeeds we will have the Watchtower eating out of our hands.

Compromise and democratic principles must be the by-word though if such a venture is to succeed, a venture whose primary goal is to bring change to the Watchtower or to bring her down, whichever she chooses!

Perhaps those who are willing to take a leading role can consolidate the efforts of the former and current JWs who post on the net along with our friends, into an effective working body one that will work for a common goal. Democratic elections of those who are willing to take the lead in such an alliance, an alliance for the psychological freedom of JWs would be not only necessary but would have imo prevented the recent debacle. The Silentlambs Org. would not be where it is today if a large group of respected individuals were openly responsible for choosing its course, people adhering to a democratic process where one man or woman equals one vote. imo

I am curious, where are you saying that silentlambs.org is at today?

As far as I can tell, the silentlambs have the following things accomplished in the last 6 months:

    DATELINE - May 28th 2002

    BBC PANORAMA - July 14th 2002

NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE - August 11th 2002

    CNN Connie Chung - August 14th 2002

Australian News Channel 9 Sunday Program - September 22nd 2002

    TONS of local Newspapers!

Much More, and MUCH MORE to Come!

I do agree with you though, we should all try to be more united as a Family!

The TOWER won't be taken down for many years, probably not in our lifetime. What will hurt the WT. is lack of MONEY.

Bill Bowen has done a great job, no one can deny that. It can also be said though, that he did not do it alone. There are many who are helping him and I believe the recent problem here on this board would have been averted if he acted in concert with them and others.

In addition the pedophile issue is not the only one among xJWs. The blood and shunning issues along with others could certainly benefit from a united effort, albeit not a perfect one because we all so different, but certainly a more powerful one.

oh, come now. I'm not sure I even want to see the Tower toppled. Just a little more moderate in some of it's practices - blood, shunning, go door-to-door or be shamed endlessly, etc. When Teddy Jaracz passes from the scene, I think there will be big changes. He is one of the last of his breed, imo. The current crop of JW 20 and 30 somethings who are "sticking with the truth" are way more liberal than the aged theocrats at the top, and are far removed from the historical era that created the bizarre minds of these men. Time will change the WT, it cannot survive in its current state.

    Dan,

Personally, I do not want to topple the Watchtower I want it to change. Some are so hurt and angry they want to topple, others want to change it. That does not mean we cannot unite.

    IW,

I believe you brought up this idea about a year ago. Several expressed reservations about such an approach, and this upset you. I, and perhaps others, do not think a centralized effort, with an organizational structure is a good idea. I lived through through that as a JW, and don't like the feel of it. Personally, I don't want to be a part of any organization with one leader or a committee of leaders. I think it produces inefficiences. It also leads to increased vulerability. If the WT could identify one central organization, they would certainly try to destroy it. I don't want to see all our eggs in one basket. As it stands now, we have a loose confederation of people who assist each other as needed and on short notice. I think this is working well.

I doubt very much if any external attack will succeed. If it falls, it will crumble internally.

    Larc,

I respect your opinion on this.
