If You're No Longer An Elder Or M.S.-- You're Zero

One of the most interesting things about no longer being a M.S. or elder is that when the Circuit Overseer comes around to visit, no mention is ever made of the person. It's like they never even existed! No mention is made of the former servant. No questions are raised by the C.O. as to how the person is doing. It is an unusual phenomenon.

You mean the C.O. actually asked how you were doing?

I never even rated a hello. I guess that made me less than zero, huh?

The level of attention you get from the CO depends on where you exist in the JW caste system.

    Yep.

If you aren't connected, weren't popular or don't have any family in good standing, odds are they are content to just forget u ever existed. I mean why would they rock the boat and make a big thing outta u leavin? Forget that whole 1 lost sheep over the other 99 thing.

WT is indeed a corportation and once you leave the Executive level and are back in the Mailroom there is no need to ask you about the concerns of the local branch office, sales quota, salemen/women performace and other matters that are only handled by those at the Executive level.

wt is a title and position driven corp much like most corp as Janet Jackson put it

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY

and non elder/ms are doing nothing according to wt standards

and it was reasons such as this is why i had to leave. I was as they say on the FAST TRACk ,BUT i could not reconcile the way jesus did things, like the little kids

when i grew up at least the co and the org like as if they liked kids- do any of you recall the most nervous night of the co visit if you were a kid, yep you remember the FUNKY DRAWING OF bible characters smile

then the society told the co to stop that BULLSHIT and beat the friends more , and once again what little enjoyment a kid could have was taken away,

the only interest for many co and it was driven from the mindset of bethel was beat the friends do more do more and you still never did enough.

well sorry to go off the handle, but it hurts so bad looking back at how they "Dicked" around with our lives

James, I don't recall the drawing of Bible characters from the kids. Was that something they all did? The truth is "more, more, more" is what the C.O.'s have been trained to expect. And the truth is no one has zeal and excitement to do anything. Everybody feels beat up! The reality is, they don't give a rat's ass for the people.

Actually, minimus, an ex-elder is less than zero, say -3. Nothing is worse than an elder that has stepped down (stepped aside) in the eyes of the other elders and COs (just a traveling elder). They are shirking their duty and sticking the remaining elders with more work than ever. I would even imagine some of those elders wish they could stop being elders themselves and are jealous.

Blondie, I've had a few different elders tell me that they wished that they had "the guts" to do what I did. I believe they can't figure me out, though. On the congregational level, I think there could be a little jealousy, especially because I can blow off meetings that they can't. On the circuit level, especially with a new circuit overseer, I am a non-entity....All is going according to plan.

Good point Minimus...in many congregations when one "steps aside" the "friends" really don't know how to take it...many feel something is wrong...like you've contracted some disease and they don't want any part of it...others, too"shy" to ask what happened...they'd rather wait to get the scoop in the rumor mill shortly rather than approach you...even the other elders don't really know how to act and consider you in you new "fallen" position...It's like you've fallen off the "Celestial Chariot" and now must fend for yourself...very little thanks from anyone despite years of "service" in many people's behalf (very very sad). Many of couse (like myself) are just manuevering for the door!. Stepping aside is just a first step...The CO fagetabouit!!...he could care less...there's too many other issues in his face...you're no longer a commendable example...

It's so sad minimus and proandcon. It shows how little JWs know what real love and friendship is. It's like you have leprosy. I wonder how many are just easing on out the door and down the road?

    Come on and-
    Ease on down
    Ease on down the road

    Dont you carry nothin
    That might be a load
    Come on
Ease on down...ease on down the road

    Pick your left foot up
    When the right ones down

    Come on legs, keep movin
    Dont be lose no ground

    Just you keep on keepin
On the road that you choose
    Dont you give up walkin
    Cause you gave up shoes

Ease on down, ease on down the road -- come on
Ease on down, ease on down the road
    Dont you carry nothin
    That might be a load
    Come on

Ease on down, ease on down-
Ease... on... down, ease.. on down-
Ease on down, ease on down the road

    Cause there may be times
When you think lost your mind--

    And the steps you're walkin
    Might be long sometime
    But just keep on steppin
    And you'll be just fine

Ease on down, ease on down the road-
Ease on down, ease on down the road-

    Dont you carry nothin
    That might be a load

    Come on, ease on down
    Ease on down the road

The beauty of resigning as an elder is that it was I that made the decision. I have absolutely no qualms about whether I was respected or not. I really don't care what they might think......Never have.
