my biggest craft work was building my house with my hubby, I had to do the brick work, drywall ect. we saved a ton of money by doing it.
That is a lot of work. But kind of cool. My parents built to houses so I was privy to that insanity, but there is something weirdly satisfying in being able to decorate from scratch, ie. carpet, paint, drywhall, stonework etc.
But way too much work for me. I will probably NEVER build house. Or if I do, I will not be the general contractor like my parents were.
As for the comment someone made about becoming my mother....NOOOOOO! Say it ain't so! Actually I don't think of my mom as a crafter. She is more of an artist. Which to me, slap me if I am wrong, is a little different. She paints, sculpts and all that, but she is not a glue gun fanatic.
Actually that quilt was my first attempt at sewing. (Aside from an ugly skirt in home ec class) I got the idea from a quit book and made my own pattern to the size I wanted, and I changed the colors a bit. (More blue and purple). I was pretty impressed with myself. My aunt made me come to her quilt club because all the women there were too scared to try a watercolor quilt. Any quilters out there, all I have to say is, they are freaking easy and goregous!! Give it a try! (You just need lots of fabric squares and scraps of various colors). I credit it to I had an excellent teacher. You should see some of the things my Aunt has made.
My crafts this year on a smaller scale. Mostly cuz I am sure I won't have time to do everything I want and also I am a chicken.
