I have never had any grasp at all of how I am perceived. And i think it's next to impossible ever to know with any accuracy how we are perceived.
In fact, I have been very, very surprised to discover how some people perceive me when they have been moved to tell me what they really think.
I think I'm funny, fair-minded, generous, compassionate to a fault, a sort of average run-of-the-mill kinda guy who has a tendency to say exactly what he's thinking with very little varnish applied (or vaseline, either). Definitely not diplomatic material.
I have been told by various people that I am everything from Genghis Khan's evil twin to the un-named thirteenth apostle, with bits and pieces of Da Vinci, Cassanova, Einstein, Johnny Carson, Ronald Regan, and Pat Conroy thrown in for good measure.
Apparently some people throw a reflection of people at themselves and they see what they like. I don't know. But I couldn't possibly be all those conflicting characters named above all at the same time. Perhaps people just think whatever they want based on scant "first impression" information and just never update their thinking based on more evidence and experience, people being basically lazy to start with.
IMO
