We know how we are by the people that gravitate to us....

Complainers avoid me, I dont complain.
Negative thinkers stay clear, my glass is always at least half full.
I always warn people not to ask me anything they dont want my answer for.
I think in very black and white terms, which is generally taken as rude and narrowminded.
I hate bigotry of any kind, from anyone.
I try not to judge nor use terms that show judgementalism.

    Close enuff?

People perceive me to be loyal, faithful to my friends and family, will do anything for them. Hard worker, want the most out of life, non judgemental.

great responses.....We generally know how we are percieved, I think. If we GENERALLY tend to be jerks, that's how people percieve us. If we do kind hearted gestures, people generally will warm up to us.People usually express their perceptions of us, either directly or indirectly. If people say that we are the life of the party, that perception is probably true, even if we may feel otherwise. Of course, we may be real nice on this board but in real life may be viewed as not so sweet.....I am the type of person that tries to give most people the benefit of the doubt. I try to look at people's backgrounds for clues to know what makes that person tick. I tend to be quick with a response, especially a humorous one.One thing this board helps us all to see is that you can't please everyone. Some will like you and some won't.

    Question:

Do jerks know they are jerks? Or do they think they are "normal" and the rest of the world sucks?

Maybe farkel can answer this first hand? hahaha

I have never had any grasp at all of how I am perceived. And i think it's next to impossible ever to know with any accuracy how we are perceived.

In fact, I have been very, very surprised to discover how some people perceive me when they have been moved to tell me what they really think.

I think I'm funny, fair-minded, generous, compassionate to a fault, a sort of average run-of-the-mill kinda guy who has a tendency to say exactly what he's thinking with very little varnish applied (or vaseline, either). Definitely not diplomatic material.

I have been told by various people that I am everything from Genghis Khan's evil twin to the un-named thirteenth apostle, with bits and pieces of Da Vinci, Cassanova, Einstein, Johnny Carson, Ronald Regan, and Pat Conroy thrown in for good measure.

Apparently some people throw a reflection of people at themselves and they see what they like. I don't know. But I couldn't possibly be all those conflicting characters named above all at the same time. Perhaps people just think whatever they want based on scant "first impression" information and just never update their thinking based on more evidence and experience, people being basically lazy to start with.

    IMO

I guess that I can only answer this question by what I am told by others. I am told very often that I am quiet and easy going most of the time. I generally don't speak up much but rather try and analyze things before making a decision. I don't get mad much, but when I do, then look out. I have been known to have a "I don't give a f--k attitiude" and with this have been known to enter a serious situation at work and get everybody laughing at the end.

I think I am shy. I think everyone finds me to be stuck up, rather than seeing it as my shyness.
