    Hi Simon,

Unfortunately the Carter JW connection is bogus.

See Breakfast of Champions post and the rest.

JC: "That was very embarrassing, but I soon learned from my companion on these sojourns that we don’t have to worry about the consequences. All we have to do is the best we can. Let people know that the presence of God is available to everyone. The results are in God’s hands. If the door is slammed, it’s no reflection on us." Jimmy Carter

so what cult did JC go H2H for? (from the Breakfast of Champion link),

can somebody switch that yellow off please? (pepsodent)?

Regarding the Eisenhower-Watchtower connection, it also is important to remember that the Jehovah's Witness teachings as we know them (post-Rutherford era) have changed dramatically from what the young Eisenhower was taught by the Bible Students (Russell era). It is misleading to call Eisenhower a "Jehovah's Witness" when he walked away from the Bible Students years before "Judge" Rutherford invented that name.

PROLOGOS - don't quote me on this, I'm certainly not an expert. . . but it seems that Carter was involved in some kind of proselytizing work with the Southern Baptists. . . . Really, all this information does is blow a huge hole in the idea that JWs are the ONLY ONES preaching the "good news."

I'm sure they'd be disappointed to learn they aren't.

May be that is why, in part,-- the Iranian hated him so much , because they did not free the hostages until the moment his successor was sworn in. and:

why would somebody slam a door on a southern Baptist? in the south? I always found it reassuring to do house to house below the Mason/Dixie line with Southern hospitality and graciousness responding at the door.

It is credible that D. Eisenhauer (sic) had an early bible education, with the viciousness of the infighting (current bible reading) in ancient Israel, rubbing off on him. For a man of German ancestry he displayed an uncalled for hate for the opposing forces. He suggested to his troops before D-Day to shoot surrendering soldiers, not to take or keep prisoners if possible.
